Overview

Parking

  • The car park is located in front of the Visitor Centre.
  • The car park is open air/surface.
  • There are 3 designated Blue Badge parking bays available.
  • The Blue Badge bays have faded markings.
  • There is a marked zone to both sides but not at the rear.
  • The most accessible route from the Blue Badge parking has a dropped kerb without tactile paving and step-free level access.
  • Parking is free for all users.

Entrance (Visitor Centre)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors at this entrance, however one door is locked.
  • The door opens towards you.
  • The width of the opening is 90cm.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.

Reception (with Gift Shop)

  • The reception is located as you enter the Visitor Centre.
  • The journey time to this reception from the entrance is approximately less than a minute.
  • There is step-free level access to reception.
  • The height of the reception desk is 93cm.
  • There is a lowered section at the desk, however it is not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user .
  • There is a clearly signed portable hearing assistance system.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.

Eating and Drinking (Bistro)

  • Location and Service View
    • The Bistro is located to the right after the reception desk.
    • The most accessible route has step-free level access.
    • This area has staff who can provide assistance with ordering.
    • Full table service is available.
    • Menus are handheld and available on a board.
    • The following dietary requirements can be catered for: gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, nut allergy, vegetarian and vegan.
    • The following are available: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
    • There is a portable hearing assistance system on request.
  • Order and Payment View
    • The payment counter was surveyed.
    • The counter is located to the left as you enter the Bistro.
    • There is step-free level access to the counter.
    • The height of the counter is 110cm.
    • There is not a lowered section at the counter.
  • Seating Area View
    • There is step-free level access throughout the seating area.
    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
    • Seating available in this area includes: chairs without armrests.
    • Furniture available in this area includes: tables and coffee tables.
    • There is background noise in this area.

Seating Area (Decking Area)

  • The seating area is located to the rear of the Bistro.
  • The seating area is uncovered.
  • The most accessible route to the seating area has step-free level access and manual doors.
  • There is step-free level access throughout the seating area.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
  • Seating available in this area includes: chairs with armrests.
  • Furniture available in this area includes: tables.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.
  • The width of the door to access the decking is 83cm. The windows can concertina out to provide a larger opening during the warmer months.

Toilet with Adaptations (Left Hand Transfer)

  • Location and Access View
    • The toilet surveyed is located to the left, immediately as you enter the building.
    • The most accessible route to the toilet has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access into the facility.
    • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
    • The door opens outwards.
    • The width of the door opening is 90cm.
    • The door has a twist lock.
  • Dimensions and Features View
    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is a lateral transfer space to the left as you face the toilet, however it is obstructed.
    • The lateral transfer space is 98cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
    • There is a spatula flush on the non-transfer side.
    • There is a horizontal grab rail on the non-transfer side.
    • There is a vertical grab rail on the transfer side.
    • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
    • The toilet seat is 48cm from the floor.
    • There is a wall mounted toilet roll holder, a wash basin, a wall mounted soap dispenser and a hand dryer available.
    • The wash basin has a lever mixer tap.
    • The vertical grab rails are on both sides of the wash basin.
    • There is a pull cord emergency alarm, however it is not within 10cm from the floor.
    • The cubicle has a waste bin, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a sanitary bin.
    • Additional features include: a mirror, a coat hook and a baby changing table.

  • This entrance is located to the right as you enter the Visitor Centre.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a single manual door at this entrance.
  • The door opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 90cm.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.

Shop (Second-Hand Tack Shop)

  • Getting Around View
    • There is step-free level access throughout all areas.
    • There is no (or very little) background noise.
  • Payment View
    • The checkout area is located at the reception desk.
    • There is step-free level access to the checkout area.

Outdoor Spaces (Farm Walks)

  • The following is available in this area: farmland.
  • Outdoor areas consist of grass and compact earth.
  • There are footpaths in some areas.
  • There are some seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have uneven surfaces.
  • There are four designated walks which vary in difficulty.
