AccessAble and Greenwich Leisure Ltd Launch New Accessibility Guide

Greenwich Leisure Ltd, trading as Better, becomes the latest business to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of disabled access information.

Better and Hackney Council have worked with AccessAble to produce Detailed Access Guides to 8 Leisure Centres across Hackney including: Britannia Leisure Centre, Clissold Leisure Centre, Hackney Marshes Centre, King’s Hall Leisure Centre, London Fields Lido, Mabley Green, Queensbridge Sports and Community Centre and West Reservoir Centre.

The Guides are 100 per cent facts, figures, and photographs to help people plan their visits to the Leisure Centres, with detailed information on everything from parking and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guides have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

In addition, AccessAble have worked with Better to create a series of internal reports, referencing national best practice, that highlight some of the accessibility challenges currently observed across the Leisure Centres. These reports will enable Better and Hackney Council to continually develop a prioritised programme of improvement that can be addressed effectively over time to enhance existing accessible features.

David Livermore, Director of Business Development at AccessAble, said:

We were thrilled to work in partnership with Better and Hackney Council to create Detailed Access Guides to 8 Leisure Centres across Hackney.

The AccessAble website and App will enhance the visitor experience for disabled people, helping more disabled people to enjoy a Leisure Centre visit confidently.

Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney, said:

I am delighted we have undertaken accessibility audits of all our Leisure Centres in partnership with AccessAble and Better. We need to do everything we can to make our Leisure Centres as inclusive as possible and I hope the Access Guides that AccessAble and Better publish on their websites, and the improvements that have been identified for us to implement, will help us do that.
