AccessAble and Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals launch new Accessibility Guide

Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, the UK’s largest specialist heart and lung centre, become the latest member of the NHS family to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled-access information.

Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, have worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to facilities, wards, and departments at Harefield Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, and 77 Wimpole Street.

Image shows a white and blue sign which says Welcome to Royal Brompton Hospital. There is also an image of outside the main reception of Harefield Hospital.

The Guides are 100 per cent facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the hospitals, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to launch this new Accessibility Guide to Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, prioritising accessibility and patient experience, recognising how crucial detailed access information is for disabled patients, visitors and staff.

I would like to express my thanks to Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals for championing the provision of hospital accessibility information, making visits less anxious, uncertain and difficult for disabled people.”

Chris Rivers, General Manager, Estates and Capital Projects at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, said:

“The Access Guides we’ve produced with AccessAble are one of a series of initiatives we’re implementing as part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring our hospital sites are accessible to everyone who visits them.

“The Guides have been created to first and foremost give our patients, visitors and staff sufficient information to help plan their visit, regardless of access needs, and moving forward we’ll be building on this insight to continually improve their experience of accessing and navigating our hospitals with as much ease as possible.”
