AccessAble and Tesco: Landmark supermarket Accessibility Guide surveys complete

Tesco are working with AccessAble, the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information, to produce Detailed Access Guides for all (2,600 +) Tesco stores across the UK and Ireland.

AccessAble have now visited and assessed every store type from large Extras, to local Express. Petrol filling stations are also included. All Tesco Access Guides will be live on www.AccessAble.co.uk and the AccessAble App by the end of January 2022. They will also feature on the Tesco Store Locator.

The Guides are 100 per cent facts, figures, and photographs to help shoppers plan their visit to Tesco stores, with detailed information on everything from parking and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guides have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

The Access Guides join a host of inclusion initiatives at Tesco, including the Sunflower Lanyard scheme for customers with hidden disabilities and 100 Changing Places toilets with enhanced facilities.

Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble said,

‘We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Tesco and delighted to have now completed our surveys of all Tesco stores across the UK and Ireland.

We see Access Guides playing a vital role, alongside other accessibility initiatives, in making it easier for disabled people to plan their shopping trip. The team at Tesco are passionate and committed to making stores welcoming and inclusive for everyone, we are honoured to work alongside them.’

Claire Pickthall, Group Customer Proposition Director from Tesco said,

‘We are extremely proud to work alongside AccessAble, to provide customers with independently assessed accessibility information for all our stores. We will keep listening to our customers and colleagues so that we can continue to make the store experience better.’
