Disability and inclusion writer Heather Lacey, who has Cerebral Palsy, writes for AccessAble about spontaneous, accessible days out.
It's nice to be spontaneous, isn't it? An impromptu trip to the shops, or visit to a park, or to enjoy a meal out at a new restaurant.
Well, the thing is, although spontaneity sounds like a great idea, for many disabled people this spontaneity can be elusive. When you have access needs to think about, that quick jaunt outdoors can be difficult.
But, by using AccessAble's handy App and Detailed Access Guides, we're going some way in helping those with access needs to become more spontaneous, bypassing the need to go to the same old places or the hassle of ringing up to try and discuss - often in earnest - the requirements they have. I wanted to showcase some of the more relaxing and serene locations in the North West that can be searched for on AccessAble 's wonderful App.
Blackburn Museum and Art Gallery
Nothing quite beats exploring a museum when trying to escape the hustle and busy of city-life. There's something so wonderful about discovering historic artefacts and pondering the lives of those who created and used them.
