Accessibility Guide for Chapel Allerton Hospital launches

Chapel Allerton Hospital, a nationally acclaimed centre for musculoskeletal research, has become the latest hospital to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled-access information.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to facilities, wards and departments at Chapel Allerton Hospital.

The Guides are 100 per cent facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the hospital, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

Everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. All of the details in the Guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to launch this new Accessibility Guide to Chapel Allerton Hospital. Our partnership recognises the Trust’s commitment to providing great patient experience for everyone.

We look forward to receiving feedback from disabled people and carers and exploring the possibility of rolling the programme across the Trust’s Estate.”

Craige Richardson, Director of Estates and Facilities at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, said:

“Chapel Allerton Hospital is a busy site, with our teams caring for patients with a wide range of different accessibility needs. This includes a number of busy outpatient departments, patients having elective orthopaedic surgery and patients being cared for at our complex and neurological rehabilitation unit.

“We are pleased to be working with AccessAble to launch the new guides, which provide accurate and detailed information about the accessibility of our wards and departments to help our patients feel more confident about coming into hospital.

“We know there is always more we can do, and we are keen to hear any feedback about the Chapel Allerton Hospital AccessAble guides as we explore the possibility of rolling this out at our other hospital sites in Leeds.”

The information about Chapel Allerton Hospital joins over 70,000 places already covered across the UK, making www.AccessAble.co.uk a great tool not only for planning a hospital visit, but also a day out or trip away.
