Your Accessibility Guide to Birmingham Women’s Hospital is now live!

Centre of excellence becomes latest hospital to partner with AccessAble.

Birmingham Women’s Hospital, which provides specialist services to more than 50,000 women, men and their families every year, have worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to the hospital’s facilities, wards and departments.

The Guides are 100% facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the hospital, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important.  It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guide have been checked in person, by trained surveyors.

Anna Nelson, Executive Director of AccessAble, said:

We are thrilled to launch this new Accessibility Guide to Birmingham Women’s Hospital, one of only two dedicated women’s hospitals in the UK. Our partnership shows that the Trust recognise how vital access information is for disabled patients, visitors and staff, enabling greater patient experience and access for everyone. We hope that other organisations across the UK follow this example and partner with AccessAble, making hospital visits less anxious, painful and difficult.”

Marion Harris, Chief Nurse at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“We’re delighted to be launching Detailed Access Guides to our Women’s Hospital’s facilities, wards and departments, as every patient/family journey is different, and it is important to us that we do everything we can to help with access around our hospital sites.”

You can view Birmingham Women’s Hospital’s Accessibility Guide here: https://www.accessable.co.uk/birmingham-women-s-and-children-s-hospital-nhs-foundation-trust/birmingham-womens-hospital

It’s also available via the AccessAble App which is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, giving you accessibility information at your fingertips during your hospital visit.

The information to Birmingham Women’s Hospital joins over 70,000 places already covered across the UK, making www.AccessAble.co.uk a great tool not only for planning a hospital visit, but also a day out or trip away.
