Your Accessibility Guide to Royal Papworth Hospital is now live!

World-leading heart and lung hospital becomes latest of 60 NHS Trusts across the UK to partner with AccessAble.

The new Royal Papworth Hospital, officially opened by the Queen last month, have worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to the hospital’s state-of the-art facilities, wards and departments.

The Guides are 100% facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the hospital, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important.  It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guide have been checked in person, by trained surveyors.

Anna Nelson, Executive Director of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to partner with Royal Papworth for their new hospital, a state-of-the-art facility prioritising accessibility and patient experience, recognising how crucial access information is for disabled patients, visitors and staff. I hope other organisations will be encouraged by the forward thinking of this world-leading hospital and look at how joining AccessAble can make a difference to them and the people they serve.”

Eilish Midlane, Chief Operating Officer at Royal Papworth Hospital, said:

“It was important to us that we worked closely with AccessAble to develop these guides for our new hospital.

“The hospital was designed with the patient’s journey in mind, such as having the Outpatients Unit easily accessible in one place on the ground floor with clear wayfinding signage to each department.

“We hope that these guides, which can be vital to patients and visitors – as well as staff – help to support that work to make a person’s visit to us as smooth as possible.”

It’s also available via the AccessAble App which is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, giving you accessibility information at your fingertips during your hospital visit.

The information to Royal Papworth Hospital joins over 70,000 places already covered across the UK, making www.AccessAble.co.uk a great tool not only for planning a hospital visit, but also a day out or trip away.
