Your Accessibility Guide to the Abertay University is now live!

Europe’s number one university for computer games becomes the latest of over 80 universities across the UK to partner with AccessAble.

Abertay University have worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to their main buildings and libraries, which officially launch on 3rd December to tie-in with International Day of Disabled Persons, the theme of which this year is ‘The Future is Accessible'.

The Guides are 100% facts, figures and photographs and give you loads of useful information to work out if the University building, service or room is going to be accessible to you. They cover everything from parking to hearing loops, walking distances and accessible toilets.

The free Accessibility Guide is for students, visitors and staff and is available at www.AccessAble.co.uk and on the AccessAble App.

Dr Gregory Burke, Founder of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Abertay University to produce Detailed Access Guides to the university’s buildings and libraries. Abertay is part of a trailblazing group of universities in Scotland, who recognise how vital accessibility information is for disabled students and those with access requirements.

Our initiative is all about removing barriers to higher education and improving the student experience. I hope that other universities across the country will see this initiative as a demonstration of best practice and look to follow this example, making the future accessible to all students, visitors and staff.”

James Nicholson, Director of Student Services at Abertay University, said:

“Being able to celebrate our partnership with AccessAble – on the International Day of Disabled Persons 2019 - is a proud moment for the University as it demonstrates our commitment to improving the on-campus experience for our students, visitors and staff with mobility issues or hearing / visual impairments. AccessAble have given us the opportunity to scrutinise the accessibility of all our buildings and common spaces, helping us recognise what we’re doing well in terms of access, whilst also highlighting areas of focus going forward.”

It’s also available via the AccessAble App which is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, giving you accessibility information at your fingertips to use on the go.

The information to Abertay University’s sites joins over 70,000 places already covered across the UK, including 1000s of places in Scotland, making www.AccessAble.co.uk a great tool for planning your university experience, a day out or trip away.
