Your Accessibility Guide to York St John University is now live!

A University named as one of the top 10 in the country for teaching quality becomes the latest of over 85 higher education providers across the UK to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information.

York St John University has worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to 200 teaching/meeting spaces and routes across campus, including learning theatres, study rooms, labs, and sports performance halls.

The Guides are 100 per cent facts, figures, and photographs to help students, visitors and staff plan their journey to and around the university, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Debbi Boden-Angell, Director of Student Life at York St John University, said:

“York St John University are delighted to be working with Accessible to make it easier for our university community to access our city-centre campus. Alongside organisations like City of York Council, York Teaching Hospital and the University of York who also subscribe to the AccessAble service; this will provide a holistic partnership across the city to benefit not only our staff and students but visitors and members of our local community.”

Dr Gregory Burke, Founder and Chairman of AccessAble said:

“We are delighted to work in partnership with York St John University to create and publish Detailed Access Guides to the University’s buildings. Too often disabled people, carers and people access needs can face a postcode lottery when it comes to accessibility information, so it’s fantastic to see a collaborative, joined up approach across the City. I’d like to sincerely thank the University for recognising that detailed, accurate accessibility information is crucial to improving student experience.”

The information on York St John University’s site joins over 70,000 places already covered across the UK, including over 200 places in York, making www.AccessAble.co.uk a great tool for planning your University experience, a day out or trip away.
