Route Information
- This route is from the bus station main entrance at Barnsley Interchange to the main entrance for Barnsley Old Mill Lane Campus.
The route includes pedestrian crossings, road crossings and slight and steep slopes.
The total distance is approximately 430 metres.
Barnsley Interchange Bus Station Main Entrance onto Eastgate
- Exit the main bus station entrance onto Eldon Street.
Turn Right and proceed along the footpath. The footpath has a surface of paving slabs and block paving.
There are bollards on the left hand side of the footpath.
After approximately 21 metres, cross Eldon Street to the right hand side of Regent Street via the crossing point. The crossing point consists of 2 pedestrian crossings and a central triangular island.
The crossings have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on either side, the island surface is paving slabs.
The pedestrian crossings are push button controlled with visual signals and rotating cones.
Bear left and continue up Regent Street.
The footpath has a surface of paving slabs and is on a steep upward slope all the way to Eastgate.
After approximately 41 metres cross the junction with County Way.
This is an uncontrolled road crossing with dropped kerbs on either side.
Continue up Regent Street and after approximately 105 metres turn right onto Eastgate.
There are bollards on the left side on this section, and some cabinets, sign posts and lampposts on the right.
Regent Street on Eastgate to Barnsley College Old Mill Lane Campus
- Continue on Eastgate which is on a slight slope.
The footpath has a surface of paving slabs.
There are bollards on the left over some stretches.
There are lampposts on the right side of the footpath.
After approximately 60 metres there is a temporary fence on the right which narrows the footpath to 120cm for approximately 40 metres.
After another 15 metres, there is a pay and display machine on the right.
After approximately 50 metres bear right slightly to an uncontrolled road crossing.
The crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on either side.
Follow the footpath up Eastgate which bends to the left.
The footpath surface is a mixture of block paving and resin bound gravel.
The footpath is on a slight upward slope to the college.
After approximately 65 metres turn right between some bollards. The gap between the bollards is 300cm.
The entrance to Barnsley College Old Mill Campus is located ahead, approximately 15 metres from the bollards.
The surface leading to the entrance is paving slabs.
