  • The doors are single (with a locked extension leaf), open away from you (push), and are easy to open.

  • There are double doors from the public access lift and stairs into the council chamber. The colour contrast between the external doors and the internal doors and walls is good.
  • The doors open towards you (pull), and are over 75cm wide, but have closers and may be difficult for some people to open.
  • Access from the public gallery to the debating floor and leader's desk is by ramp or steps.
  • There are chairs without armrests in the public gallery, and chairs with armrest to both sides at councillors' desks.
  • The leader's desk is 76 cm high and is not height adjustable.
  • The class floor space between tables desks in the room ranges between 64 cm for councillor's desks to 74cm for other tables. A height adjustable table is not available.

Second Floor Meeting Rooms

  • The room surveyed was Hatch Warren and Beggarwood Room, located on the second floor directly ahead as you exit the lift.
  • There are three other similar rooms in the same location: Evingar Room (photographs 7 to 8), Kempshott and Buckskin Room (photographs 9 to 10), and Norden Room (photographs 11 to 12).
  • There are four more similar rooms to the left as you exit the main lifts on the second floor: Eastdrop and Grove Room (photographs 13 to 14), Sherborn St John and Rooksdown room (photographs 15 to 16), Winklebury and Marydown Room (occupied at time of survey), and South Ham Room (photographs 17 to 18).
