About West Reservoir Centre

Located in the Woodberry Down area, the West Reservoir Centre sits on the first of two reservoirs in the area. The reservoir is split into two halves with water sports such as canoeing, kayaking, sailing and paddle boarding taking place on one side. The other half of the reservoir is reserved for open water swimming. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic the centre had low usage from open water swimmers but since 2020 and then growth of open water swimming, the centre has seen a huge rise in users. The main building at the centre was originally built to house a filtration system in the 1930s when the demand for drinking water was increasing in London. As well as now housing changing rooms for the centre it is also a very popular venue for weddings.
