The Lexicon

Princess Square to Braccan Walk

  • The length of this section from Princess Square to Braccan Walk is approximately 100m.
  • The section begins at Princess Square and runs northwards along Braccan Walk up to the High Street intersection.
  • Looking north along Braccan Walk, the entrance to Princess Square shopping centre is on your left.
  • There are benches immediately on your right.
  • The path is approximately 18m wide.
  • The path has a very slight downwards slope along the length of Braccan Walk.
  • There is also a very slight slope towards the centre of the path.
  • As you head north along Braccan Walk there are benches in the middle of the path approximately 30m down.
  • There are shops on both sides and cafés on the left with outdoor seating which impedes the width of the path.
  • There are also benches and trees in the centre of the path.
  • At this point the walkway becomes approximately 5m wide.

Union Square

  • The length of this section is approximately 25m.
  • The section begins where Braccan Walk opens into Union Square.
  • The pedestrianised High Street runs across Braccan Walk from left to right at this point.
  • There are restaurants, pubs and seating located around the side of the square.
  • Head straight across Union Square for approximately 20m and continue back on to Braccan Walk heading northwards.

Braccan Walk to The Avenue

  • The length of this section is approximately 75m.
  • The section begins at Union Square with Bill's restaurant on the left.
  • After leaving Union Square, continue northwards along Braccan Walk.
  • There is now a covering above the walk and more benches situated along the centre of the path approximately 20m down.
  • There is a very slight slope in this area.
  • Follow the walk for approximately another 50m until you reach the avenue.

The Avenue to Eagle Lane

  • The length of this section from the Avenue to Eagle Lane is approximately 125m.
  • The section begins looking westwards with Braccan Walk on your left.
  • The path is completely pedestrianised with block paving along the entire length of the walk.
  • The path is level along the length of the walk.
  • Heading west along the Avenue the path is approximately 20m wide with a tree and flowerbed in the centre.
  • As you continue down the path there are cafés with outdoor seating in the centre of the path which reduce the width to approximately 3m.
  • As you head further down the path there are shops on both sides and the central flower bed stops.
  • There is a concrete seating area / sculpture in the centre of the path.

Eagle Lane to High Street

  • The length of this section from Eagle Lane to High Street is approximately 115m.
  • The section begins at the end of the Avenue looking southwards along Eagle Lane with the Avenue at your back.
  • The width of the path is approximately 10m wide.
  • The is a very slight slope along the length of Eagle Lane.
  • There is tiled paving with a slight slope towards the centre of the path.
  • There is a covering which runs along the length of Eagle Lane.
  • As you head southwards along Eagle Lane there are restaurants on both sides with outdoor seating which impede on the width of the path.
  • When you are about halfway along the path there will be outdoor seating on both sides.
  • At this point the path is approximately 4m wide.
  • As you continue along the lane there are bollards.
  • The minimum width between the bollards is 190cm.
