Introduction

  • Services / facilities within the building include student accommodation.
  • The Stephen Bragg Hall is located to the north west side of campus within the Isambard Complex.
    The Isambard Complex is accessed by Topping Lane off Cleveland Road or Isambard Close via Station Road. However, at the time of survey (March 2022), access to the accommodation / Topping Lane was via Isambard Close as the entrance to Topping Lane (off Cleveland Road) was blocked / closed due to a Covid-19 testing centre.
    There are barriers by the Isambard Close campus entrance off Station Road with key card readers 105cm high and an intercom 120cm high.
    There are further barriers on Topping Lane, however these were kept permanently open at the time of survey (March 2022). The key card reader is 92cm high and the intercom is 109cm high.
  • The closest launderette is located close to the main entrance of Michael Bevis Hall, approximately 95 metres from Stephen Bragg Hall.
    The Concourse Hall reception is located at the end of the central pedestrianised promenade through campus, approximately 75 metres from Stephen Bragg Hall (via an accessible route).
    The closest assembly point to the Stephen Bragg Hall is C, which is to the left of the entrance.

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • From the M25, turn off at junction 16 onto the M40 and follow this road onto the A40.
      Continue along the A40 until you reach a roundabout and turn right onto the B483 and follow this to the end and turn left onto Hillingdon Road.
      Then, following signs for Brunel University, turn left onto Kingston Lane.
    • There are site/campus car parks available on the university campus that require a permit or are pay and display. Blue Badge holders can park for free.
  • By Bus View
    • There are several buses that run to Brunel University with a bus stop right outside the entrance to the university. The bus services that run are the U1, U2, U4, U5, U7, A10 and the 222.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station is West Drayton which is approximately a 15 minute journey from Brunel University. From the station, U3, U5 or 222 buses or a taxi can take you to the university.
  • By Underground View
    • The nearest underground station is Uxbridge Station which is approximately a 10 minute journey via the U1, U3, U4 or U7 bus services or taxi.

Building Parking

    • There is 1 Blue Badge bay by Galbraith Hall 'entrance 2' to rear of the North Hall, with a marked area to one side of 120cm wide (photograph 1).
    • There is a dropped kerb onto the pavement with a slight gradient by the bay (photograph 3).
    • The other 3 Blue Badge bays (photographs 4-6) are between Galbraith and Fleming Halls, with marked areas approximately 120cm wide.
    • There is a steep slope up to pavement level on the road by the 3 bays (photograph 7).
    • Photographs 8-10 show the other 2 raised crossing across the car park, one which has a bollard that reduces the width to 120cm.

    • There is step free access throughout the building via lift(s).

    • There is high colour contrast between the walls and floor in all areas.

    • Most doors into flats are manual, however one of the ground floor flats (39 and 40) has an automatic door.
    • Flat 40 has a key card reader on the wall to the right of the door which is 103cm high. There is also a key card reader on the handle which is 98cm high.
    • Photograph 5 shows the signage indicating flat locations on the noticeboards, but these are very small and high up.
    • There is a fire exit map and an evacuation control panel by the main entrance for staff to check the refuge points when a drill / emergency occurs (photographs 6 and 7).
