Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free level with uneven surfaces from all directions.
  • The Estates and Facilities Hub has two main entrances which provide step-free access via slight ramps or slopes to the ground floor.
    There is a single automatic door which is push pad activated at the Visitors entrance and two single manual doors with a locked extension leaf at the Contractors entrance.
  • The entrances are signed as Visitors and Contractors.
  • The Visitors entrance provides step-free access via slight ramp to the ground floor of the building.
  • The Contractors entrance has step-free access via a slight slope to the ground floor of the building.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors.
    There is step-free level access via platform lift to access the first floor from the ground floor.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes include carpet, laminate and vinyl with some having a shiny finish.
  • The staff seating area is named 'Mess Room' on the ground floor of the building. This has a mixture of seating and kitchen area with lowered work surfaces.
  • There is a building map by the Contractors entrance to show the floor plan of the building.
    There is very little wayfinding signage available throughout the building.
  • There are manual doors in the main circulation areas on the ground and first floors of the building which are permanently held open.
    There are also manual doors to access the stairwells.

  • Toilet Facilities View
    • There are 2 toilets with adaptations.
    • Toilets with adaptations are located on the ground and first floor of the building.
    • The transfer space varies between left and right in the toilets with adaptations.
    • The shared step-free toilet facilities are located on the ground floor of building to the left of the Contractors entrance and on the first floor of the building, to the right as you exit the platform lift.

    • Standard shower facilities are located within the shared toilet on the first floor of the building.

Parking (Grey Car Park - Staff Permit Holders and Blue Badge Only)

    • The car park is located in front of the building and within the former Canterbury Prison grounds.

    • There are 2 designated Blue Badge parking bays available.

Entrance (Visitors Entrance)
