Getting Help and Assistance

Queuing System (Immersive Queue Line - Step Free Access)

  • Queuing System View
    • This is an immersive queue line which is approximately 30 metres long and 60 metres long when extended in busy periods.
      There are slight downwards slopes in parts of the queue line.
      There is Christmas music playing as well as an option for guests to take part in a silent disco where they can play music through headphones and change the radio station to their preference.
      There is a chair with armrests in the centre of the queue for photo opportunities which can be used as a resting area.
      Along the queue line there are boards with QR codes that can be scanned and connected to a live BSL interpreter if required.
      At the end of the queue, guests are met by a member of staff who guides them to the grotto.
      The surface along the queue line is made of flexi mulch material which is soft.
    • There are uneven surfaces in some parts of the queuing area.

    • The majority of the queuing area is enclosed to the left and right of you.
    • The minimum width of the queuing area is 79cm.

    • All guests exit via this access point in reverse.
    • Guests have a choice of whether to exit this access point in reverse after visiting the grotto or to exit via the Christmas Village exit point.

Queuing System (Non-Immersive Queue Line - Step Free Access)

  • Queuing System View
    • This is a non-immersive queue line for guests who cannot queue in the immersive queue line.
      The queue line has a slight gradient.
      This line is generally quieter and has a direct route to the accessible grotto.
      It is approximately 10 metres to the accessible grotto and guests are accompanied by a member of staff.
      There is a board at the start of the queue line with a QR code that can be scanned and connected to a live BSL interpreter if required.
    • Path surfaces in this queueing system are wood flooring.
    • There are uneven surfaces in some parts of the queuing area.
    • The queuing area is open air.
    • The majority of the queuing area is enclosed to the left and right of you.
    • The minimum width of the queuing area is 95cm.
    • There are not any resting/seating areas within the queuing area.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • Handrails along the ramped/sloped section(s) are on both sides.
    • The minimum width for ramped/sloped sections is 95cm.
    • There are not resting areas for longer ramped/sloped sections of the queueing system.

Christmas Village - Grotto Area

  • The Christmas Village Grotto Area walkthrough is wheelchair accessible and consists of pathways with slopes of varying gradients.
  • The narrowest point of the pathway is 115cm wide.
  • The surfaces in this area are made of flexi mulch and may be uneven in some places.
  • Some pathways may be slightly obstructed by overhanging tree branches.
  • There is Christmas music playing throughout.
  • The lighting may differ depending on the time of booking, after 3pm the lighting levels dramatically reduce.

Accessible Grotto

  • There is ramped access into the accessible grotto.
  • The entrance doors are double with one door locked. The door open towards you and is 70cm wide.
  • Both doors can be opened if required.
  • There is a small lip in the threshold of the entrance doorway.
  • No buggies are permitted inside the grotto.
  • Beyond the entrance there is ramped access into the room which is slight, 122cm wide and has no handrails.
  • There is 150cm x 150cm turning space once inside the room.
  • The room is dimly lit and there may be some music in the background.
  • The lighting levels can vary depending on time of booking, after 3pm the lighting levels can dramatically reduce.
  • There may be some flash photography, however, this is optional.

Standard Grotto

  • Access to the standard grotto is via 4 unmarked steps with a handrail on the right going up.
  • The steps are 16cm high and the depth of these is 25cm.
  • The entrance doors into the grotto are double with one door locked which open towards you.
  • The width of the door is 68cm, however, both doors can be opened if required.
  • There is an unmarked 7cm high step in the threshold of the entrance doorway.
  • There is a mat beyond the entrance which may be perceived as a hole in low lighting.
  • No buggies are permitted inside the grotto.
  • There is 150cm x 150cm turning space once inside the room.
  • The room is dimly lit and there may be some music in the background.
  • The lighting levels can vary depending on time of booking, after 3pm the lighting levels can dramatically reduce.
  • There may be some flash photography, however, this is optional.

Photo View and Purchase

  • The photo view and purchase cabin is located at the end of the grotto walkthrough and before the reindeer enclosure.
  • There may be faint fake snow falling in this area.
  • There is ramped or stepped access to enter the cabin.
  • The steep ramp is located to the left of the entrance, is 107cm wide and has handrails on both sides going up.
  • There is a level landing and 150cm x 150cm turning space at the top of the ramp.
  • Alternatively, there are 4 unmarked with handrails on both sides located to the right before the entrance.
  • The lowest step is 4cm high and the highest 16cm.
  • The doors into the cabin are double with one door locked, which opens towards you to a width of 76cm.
  • Both doors can be opened if required.
  • The photo viewing counter is of a standard height with no lowered sections and the screens which can be tilted for ease of use.
  • The lighting levels in the cabin are moderate to good.
  • Photos can be collected at the Gruffalo Gift Shop located in Wild Woods.
  • At the time of survey (November 2024), it was not possible to view the inside of the cabin.

Exit Point (Grotto Area)

  • This ride/attraction exit point is not signed.
  • Exit Point View
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this exit point.
    • This exit point is an open gateway.
    • The exit point does not/do not contrast visually with its immediate surroundings.
    • The exit point opening width is 186cm.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • The ramp/slope is located at the exit threshold.
    • The gradient of the ramp/slope is slight.
    • The ramp/slope is permanent.

Exit Route (Grotto Area to Enchanted Hollow Toy Workshop via Reindeer Enclosure)

  • Queuing System View
    • This exit route is approximately 25 metres long.
      After exiting the grotto area there is a very steep uphill slope, passing the reindeer enclosure on the left.
      After the reindeer enclosure there is a slight to steep downhill slope towards the queue line for the Enchanted Hollow Toy Workshop.
    • Path surfaces in this queueing system are concrete and block paving.
    • There are uneven surfaces in some parts of the queuing area.
    • The queuing area is open air.
    • The majority of the queuing area is enclosed to the left and right of you.
    • The minimum width of the queuing area is 134cm.
    • There are not any resting/seating areas within the queuing area.
    • Music/themed noise is played in some parts of the queuing area.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • Handrails along the ramped/sloped section(s) are not provided.

Outside Access (Enchanted Hollow Toy Workshop)

Enchanted Hollow Toy Workshop

  • This part of the trail is an immersive walkthrough experience.
  • After the entrance there is a pre-show video that guests can view before they enter.
  • There is level access throughout the inside areas.
  • Guests are grouped in families so that areas do not get congested and the flow of people throughout is managed by staff.
  • There may be character meet and greets throughout the experience.
  • Inside the workshop there is music played throughout, sensory smells and low lighting levels.

Exit (Enchanted Hollow Toy Workshop)
