      The Churchill Museum is divided into 5 areas - Chapter 1 1940 - 1945 War Leader, Chapter 2 1945 -1965, Chapter 3 – 1874 - 1900 Young Churchill, Chapter 4 – 1900 - 1929 Maverick Politician and Chapter 5 1929 - 1939 Wilderness Years.
      There is an also exhibition area for Churchill and the Middle East.
      There are audio videos with subtitles around the museum.
      There is background sounds and audio played at some exhibits.
      There are interactive touchscreens available throughout the museum. The height of the touchscreen is between 80cm and 95cm.
      There are several interactive exhibits located around the museum. The height of the exhibits varies.
      Some examples of the interactive exhibits include - There is a large interactive WW2 map in Chapter 1. The height of the map is between 80cm to 110cm.
      There is an interactive D Day Binoculars exhibit in Chapter 1. The height of the binoculars are between 105cm, 120cm and 145cm.
      At the centre of the museum there is a large table with a timeline of Churchills Life. The height of table is 76cm.
      There is an interactive exhibition about the relationship between the WW2 leaders in Chapter 1. The height of the table controls is between 69cm and 79cm. There is a clear recess beneath the exhibit table for wheelchair users.
      There is a video playing Churchills State Funeral, which is in Chapter 2. There is bench seating and space for wheelchairs.
      In the Darndalles exhibit there are touchscreens with audio, which is in Chapter 5. The height of the touchscreen is 90cm.
      There is an interactive Churchill World Atlas in Chapter 5. The height of the touchscreen is 90cm. There is a clear recess beneath the exhibit table for wheelchair users.

Audio Guide Points 7 - 12 - Within the Churchill Museum

  • Audio Guide Points 7 to 12 are located around the Churchill Museum at the start of each Chapter about Churchill's Life.
  • There are information boards at each point.
  • There is step-free access throughout the museum.

Audio Guide Points 13 - 19

  • The access to the Audio Guide Point 13 is located to the left after exiting the Churchill Museum (after visiting Audio Guide Points 7 - 12).
  • There is step-free access along the Audio Guide Route between points 13 and 19.
  • The narrowest width of the corridor is 90cm.
  • There are information boards next to each audio guide point.
  • There is clear signage along the route.
  • The lighting levels are low to moderate.
  • There is step-free access to Audio Guide Point 13 which provides information about the slab.
  • From Audio Guide 13 there is step-free access along the corridor to Audio Guide Point 14, which shows the PM Detectives Room. This has a glass viewing window which starts from the floor but there is a metal bar which is 110cm from the floor.
  • The step-free access to Audio Guide Point 15 which shows the Brendan Bracken Room. This has a glass viewing window which starts from the floor but there is a metal bar which is 110cm from the floor.
  • There are also similar viewing windows into the rooms of Major Desmond Morton, Commander Thompson, and Deputy Security of War Cabinet Norman Brook.
  • There are also viewing windows into Clementine Churchills Room where the viewing window starts from the floor.
  • Audio Guide Point 16 is located along the same corridor and shows the Prime Minsters dining room. This has a glass viewing window which starts from the floor.
  • Audio Guide Point 17 is located at the rear of the corridor and shows the Chief of Staff conference room. The viewing window begins from floor level and there is a mixture of seating available with and without armrests.
  • There is a corridor leading between Audio Guide Points 17 and 18. Along the corridor there are permanently held open doors with an opening width of 70cms, if the doors are too narrow they can be bypassed by using an alternative route, please speak to a member staff for more information.
  • Audio Guide Point 18 shows the Kitchen. This has a viewing window which starts from the floor.
  • There is corridor leading from Audio Guide Point 18 to 19.
  • There is step-free access along the corridor.
  • Audio Guide Point 19 is the Plant Room. The view into the Plant Room is via a permanently held open door. The Plant Room is also a conference and events space. The door will be closed when there is an event taking place.
  • Access to the Plant Room involves overcoming a 4cm step.
  • The café is located next to Audio Guide Point 19.

Shop
