About County Durham
Durham boasts breathtaking dales, a dramatic coastline, a vale steeped in history and a vibrant city at its heart. Across the county visitors and residents alike can enjoy award-winning attractions, exciting activities and events, stunning landscapes, and fantastic food and drink.
Durham City is home to one of the UK’s most recognisable landmarks, the majestic Durham Cathedral. Together with Durham Castle, this UNESCO World Heritage Site forms one of the most stunning city panoramas in Europe.
Heritage attractions bring the county’s fascinating past to life, whilst museums and galleries showcase its unique culture. And in Durham’s great outdoors, nature, wildlife and natural wonders can be found in abundance from countryside to coast.
Home to an array of local producers, a taste of Durham can be found at farm shops, farmers markets and on menus across the county.
