Rachel Poole Bus Station

  • The surface of the flooring within the bus station is block paving with tactile paths running throughout.
  • There are sections of tactile path leading out of the bus station onto Fairfax Street.
  • There are two exits here. One is a double set of automatic doors that open towards you and a single manual sliding door. Both have widths of over 150cm.
  • There are toilets, shops and other facilities within the bus station.

Exit Pool Meadow Bus Station via the Fairfax Street / Hales Street Entrance

  • Turn left on exiting the building and head to the pedestrian crossing across Fairfax Street. This exit to the building can be seen in photograph 1.
  • The view on exiting the building can be seen in photograph 2.
  • The are traffic lights at the crossing with rotating cones, audio assistance and controls at a height of 102cm.
  • There are tactile drops kerbs on either side of the tarmac road with traffic approaching from either side. The crossing can be seen in photographs 3, 4 and 5.
  • Once you have crossed Fairfax Street turn right and head to Trinity Lane.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • As you do this there will be at first an uphill gradient followed by a downhill gradient. This area can be seen in photographs 6 and 7.
  • The distance covered in this section is approximately 50m.
  • As you reach Trinity Lane you will see a section of tactile paving for a crossing to your right and a Sainsbury's Supermarket to your right.
  • Once you are past the supermarkets entrance turn right up Trinity Lane.

Trinity Street to New Buildings

  • Head up Trinity Street the surface of which is block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • There is the occasional tree and other such obstacles along the lane.
  • There is an uphill gradient.
  • After 6m you will encounter a section of tactile paving for a crossing. Ignore and continue onwards. This can be seen is photograph 1.
  • The area after the tactile paving can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
  • Along the street you will find four trinity street Bus stations. These can be seen in photographs 4 and 5.
  • Near the top of the street you may encounter some guttering on the floor.
  • The distance covered in this section is 100m.

New Buildings to Broadgate

  • There are tactile drop kerbs on either side of the crossing across the tarmac road. The road and crossings can be seen in photographs 1 and 2.
  • Continue going up the hill. As you do so, the surface of the pavement will change from block paving with the occasional manhole cover to brick block paving. This area is shown in photographs 3, 4 and 5.
  • There are bollards as you proceed with a gap of 127cm between them and the nearby wall. These can be seen in photograph 6.
  • Continue going as you do so you will see Holy Trinity Church to your left. The church can be seen in photograph 7.
  • This is distance of approximately 90m.

Hertford Street to The Arcade

  • Head down Hertford Street which has a block paved surface with the occasional manhole cover and a predominantly easy downhill gradient.
  • There is seating located along the pavement.
  • This area can be seen in photograph 1, 2, 3 and 4.
  • After 75M you will encounter a level change to reach Bull Yard use the steep ramp to bypass the steps the ramp has a handrail to your left going down
  • The ramp can be seen in photographs 5 and 6.
  • Continue on onwards for another 100m an area shown in photograph 7 before turning left and heading towards Warwick Road. The turning can be seen in photograph 8.
  • The distance of this area is approximately 215m.

Broadgate to Hertford Street

  • Turn Right into Broadgate Square a distance of 30m.
  • There is downhill gradient as you head into the square. This can be seen in photograph 1.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving with the occasional manhole cover.
  • Once in the square turn left and head to Hertford Street past the Lady Godiva Statue.
  • There is an uphill gradient as you do this. This can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
  • In front of you there should be the entrance into Hertford Street this can be seen in photograph 4.
  • This section covers a distance of 125m.

Warwick Road to New Union Street

  • As you head towards the lights there is a section of brick block paving which can be seen in photograph 1.
  • The traffic lights have tactile drop kerbs on either side as well as rotating cones, an audible sound and controls at a height of 102cm. The crossing can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
  • Turn left and head down New Union Street to reach Portal House.
  • The surface of the pavement on the far side of the road is tarmac after 10m this changes to block paving with the occasional section of concrete and manhole cover.
  • There are slight gradient both uphill as you head down New Union Street and downhill towards the road. This area can be seen in photographs 3, 4 and 5.
  • The entrance into Portal House is located to your right. This can be seen in photographs 6 and 7.
