Outdoor Spaces

  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access throughout all areas.
  • There are seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • Playground View
    • There is a fenced play area with an access point over 100cm wide.
    • The play equipment is within easy reach for seated and standing users and users of different heights.
    • The following play experiences are available: swinging, sliding, rotating, climbing and crawling.

Entrance (Mall)

  • This entrance is located on the loch side of the building, opposite the SEA LiFE centre.
  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.

  • There are double automatic doors at this entrance.
  • The doors open away from you.

Entrance (Main Foyer - Toilets)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building, near the car park.
  • The approach to the entrance has bollards.
  • The entrance area is not clearly signed.
  • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double automatic doors at this entrance.
  • The doors open towards you.
  • There is a push pad at a height of 90cm.
  • The width of the opening is 164cm.
  • There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
  • The doors have a low visual contrast.
  • There is a push pad or push button to exit at a height of 70cm.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout all areas, this may include the use of a lift.
  • The visual contrast between the walls and floor varies between low and high.

Lift

  • The lift surveyed is located immediately to the left as you enter the mall entrance.
  • The distance from mall entrance is 5m.
  • The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access.
  • Ground and first floors are accessed by this lift.
  • The lift door has a medium visual contrast.
  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The external lift control buttons have tactile markings, Braille markings and a medium visual contrast.
  • All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The lift door opening width is 80cm.
  • The internal dimensions of the lift are 95cm (width) x 133cm (depth).
  • The internal lift control buttons have tactile markings, Braille markings and a medium visual contrast.
  • All of the internal lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • Internally the lift has: a mirror to aid reversing, a visual floor indicator and an audible announcer.

Stairs

  • The stairs surveyed are located immediately to the left as you enter the mall entrance.
  • Ground and first floors can be accessed by these stairs.

  • The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
  • The height of the highest step is 17cm.
  • The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
  • The steps have open risers.

Eating and Drinking (Caffé at the Shores)

  • Location and Access View
    • Caffé at the Shores is located to the left of Loch Lomond Shores, accessed internally via the mall, or from the loch side walkway near the SEA LiFE centre.
    • The most accessible route has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access into this area.
    • The width of the opening is 250cm.
    • There are also external double doors to access the loch side/outdoor seating area. The doors are double width and permanently held open, although one door is locked. The clear door width is 103cm.
  • Service View
    • This area has a counter where food and drink can be ordered, staff who can provide assistance with ordering and numerous seating options.
    • Full table service is available.
    • Menus are handheld.
    • The following dietary requirements can be catered for: gluten free, dairy free, lactose free, nut allergy, vegetarian and vegan.
    • The following are available: drinking straws, takeaway cups and takeaway cutlery.
    • There is not a hearing assistance system.

    • The service counter was surveyed.
    • There is step-free level access to the counter.
    • The height of the counter is 132cm.
