Access Guide
Summary
- The route is from South Road to Trevelyan College a distance of approximately 260m.
- There are slight slopes and several road crossings along the route.

South Road to Elvet Hill Road
- Cross South Road just before the crossing to Hollingside Lane.
- There are traffic lights with a height of 104cm.
- There are tactile drop kerbs on either side of the of the tarmac road.
- The traffic lights and crossing are shown in photographs 1 - 3.
- Turn left after crossing the road and head towards Elvet Hill Road.
- The surface of the pavement is tarmac.
- After a few metres from the crossing there is a section of tactile paving (photograph 4).
- The distance from the crossing to Elvet Hill Road is approximately 80m along the tarmac pavement visible in photographs 5 - 9.
Elvet Hill Road to Trevelyan College Entrance
- Turn right and head along Elvet Hill Road until you reach Trevelyan College.
- The surface of the pavement is tarmac.
- After approximately 50m after entering Elvet Hill Road there is a service road into a car park. This service road has tactile drop kerbs on either side (photographs 4, 5 and 6).
- Keep going along the road after about 70m it will veer right, follow it along at this stage.
- Due to the presence of a lamp post, there is a width of only 70cm as the road veers right (photograph 10).
- Head along the path for another twenty metres and you will come across the access road in to Trevelyan College.
- The width of the pavement as you turn right is 90cm (photographs 12 and 13).
- The is a sign on reaching the road to Trevelyan College which can be seen in photograph 14.
Trevelyan College Entrance to Main Building Trevelyan College
- Follow the path and turn right into Trevelyan College until you reach the drop kerb shown in photograph 4.
- Head across the road and through the car park as shown in photograph 5 and 6.
- Where you will find a tactile drop kerb directly in front of the Main Entrance to the Main Building - Trevelyan College (photograph 7).
- There are bollards between the kerb and the entrance which have a width of over 150cm. Which can be seen in photograph 8.

- This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building, on the left as you access the site from Mill Hill Lane.
- This entrance gives access to the main entrance foyer and reception.
- The entrance area/door is clearly signed.
- This entrance is signed with 'Trevelyan College'.
- There is step-free access at this entrance.
- There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
- There is a dark mat or floor marking at this entrance that might be perceived as a hole.
- The entrance door(s) does/do contrast visually with its immediate surroundings.
- There is not a bell/buzzer.
- There is an intercom.
- The height of the intercom is 151cm .
- The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
- The door(s) is/are double width.
- The width of the door opening is 120cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
- There is a second set of doors.
- The door(s) open(s) automatically (towards you).
- There is a push pad/button to enter the main automatic doors.
- The entry push pad or push button is 94cm from floor level.
- The door(s) is/are double width.
- The width of the door opening is 130cm.
- There is a slope with a very easy incline.
