- The Maritime and Offshore Centre is medium sized building with two floors. .
- There are two main staircases within the building.
- The floors are signed as the ground floor and the first floor.
- There is step-free access between corridor to the rear of Tower Block where the Motor Vehicle Workshop is located and the Maritime and Offshore Centre. There is no step free access to this corridor except via the vehicle entrances within the Motor Vehicle Workshop.
This entrance leads to the upper part of the ground floor only and there are internal steps within the Maritime and Offshore Centre to access the majority of the ground floor services and all of the first floor. - There is not a toilet with adaptations available.

Getting Inside
- There is an uneven approach to the external entrances into the building.
There is no level access into the corridor leading to the internal entrance into the building. - The Maritime and Offshore Centre has four entrances.
The entrance to the west of the building has two sets of manual doors and provides step-free access via a steep slope into the centre of the building. This entrance is usually kept locked but can be opened on request.
There is a similar entrance located towards the east of the building this has a 5cm step to access the building. This entrance is usually kept locked but can be opened on request.
There is set of manual double doors with a steep slope on approach to access the lower area of the ground floor. This entrance is usually kept locked but can be opened on request. - There is signage above the exterior west entrance to the building that reads Nucleus Employability Hub.
None of the other entrances are signed. - The east and west entrances into the central area of the ground floor provide access to rooms M4, M5, M7 and the standard toilets.
The entrance into the lower area of the building gives step-free access into M10, M11, M12, M13 and M14.
The internal entrance from the Tower Block gives access to rooms M1 and M2 step-free.
Getting Around
- There is step-free access to all of the ground floor of the building via separate entrances.
- The ground floor is divided into three sections to the north of the building is an upper section accessed from the same corridor as the Motor Vehicle Workshops. This area contains rooms M1 and M2.
There is a central area of the building which can be accessed step-free via a steep slope via the car park to the west of the building and by a 5cm step from the car park to the east. This area contains rooms M4, M5, M7 and the standard toilets.
There is an area to the south of the building accessed by a steep ramp from the St Peter's Road Car Park to the east of the building. This area contains rooms M10, M11, M12, M13 and M14.
There is stepped access between these areas on the ground floor. - There are four clearly marked 19cm steps with handrails on both sides between the central area of the ground floor and the upper area of the ground floor.
There are eight clearly marked 19cm steps with handrails on both sides between the central area of the ground floor and the lower area of the ground floor. - Floor surfaces along all corridors is carpet.
- There is a chair with no armrests and table available on the ground floor.
- There is wall mounted wayfinding signage throughout the building.
- There are manual doors along the corridors.

- There are 2 designated Blue Badge parking bays available.

- The surveyed Blue Badge parking bay dimensions are 320cm (width) x 470cm (depth).
- There are no hatched/marked zones.
- The nearest designated bay is 20m from the Tower Block south entrance / Learning Resource Centre main entrance.
- The most accessible route from the Blue Badge parking has step-free level access.

- The stairs surveyed are located in the centre of the Maritime and Offshore Centre.

- The ground and first floors can be accessed by these stairs.

- The steps are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The height of the steps is not between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 19cm.
- The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
- The steps have open risers.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
