Overview

  • About View
    • The Tower Block is a very large block within the Main Building with 7 floors including a small mezzanine floor between the ground and first floors.
    • There is 1 main lift and 2 main staircases.
      There are in addition 2 platform lifts one at the South - St Peter's Street Entrance and one bypassing steps on the ground floor.
      There are 2 additional staircases that access the ground and the mezzanine floors of the building, one of which additionally accesses the first floor of the Learning Resource Centre.
    • The floors are signed as ground floor, first floor, second floor, third floor, fourth floor and fifth floor.
      The mezzanine floor between the ground and first floors is not signed.

    • There is a campus car park, with Blue Badge parking available.
    • The nearest parking is located off St Peter's Street.

Getting Inside

  • There are uneven slopes on approach from both St Peter's Street to the south entrance of the Tower Block and from Rotterdam Road to the north entrance of the Tower Block.
    There are also uneven slopes on approach from the Horizon Building car park.
  • The Tower Block has three external entrances and can also be accessed internally from both the Learning Resource Centre and the Core.
    The south entrance off the St Peter's Street car park has step- level access to enter with automatic doors and a platform lift to bypass stairs.
    The north entrance has a slight slope on approach to the entrance and a set of double automatic doors on entrance. .
  • The south entrance off the St Peter's Street car park has signage saying Welcome.
    The north entrance has signage saying Tower Block.
    The west entrance has no signage.
    There is no signage into the Tower Block from either the Learning Resource Centre or the Core.
  • The south entrance off the St Peter's Street car park provides step-free access to the lower part of the ground floor in the Tower Block via platform lift.
    The north entrance provides step-free level access to the upper part of the ground floor in the Tower Block.
  • The west entrance provides step-free access via a steep ramp bypassing steps into the lower part of the ground floor via a steep ramp.
    There is stepped access from the Core into the lower part of the ground floor Tower Block.
    There is level access from the lower part of the Learning Resource Centre ground floor to the south entrance platform lift.
    There is staircase that links the first floor of the Learning Resource Centre and the lower part of the Tower Block ground floor and the Tower Block mezzanine floor.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on the ground, first, second, third, fourth and fifth floors.
  • There is no step-free access to the mezzanine floor which contains rooms S1, S4 and S5. These room include a shared shower facility and the Prayer room.
  • There is a level change along the main corridor on the ground floor consisting of five 13cm steps with a handrail to the left. These steps can be overcome by a platform lift.
  • The majority of circulation routes within the building are hard and smooth and have a shiny finish.
  • There are limited resting areas within the circulation and lobby areas of the building.
  • There is wall mounted signage located within the building.
  • There are no manual doors within the circulation areas of the Tower Block.
