Access To (Road Safari - Section 1 - Main Entrance)

  • Entry to the Road Safari is via the ticket lanes at the main entrance.
    The park is only accessible in visitors' own vehicles.
    No open top vehicles, bicycles, motorbikes or pedestrians are permitted.
    All windows, sunroofs and doors must be kept closed.
    There is a 15mph speed limit, and the Road Safari is one way with 2 lanes going through to allow for parking and overtaking.
    Signage instructs visitors not to get out of their vehicle, but to sound their horn and wait for assistance if necessary.
    Additional signage warns visitors that the animals are dangerous and that they should stay in their car.
    Signs are displayed at regular intervals throughout all sections of the Road Safari.
    There are Bactrian Camels, North American Bison, Brindled Wildebeest and Przewalski's Horses located before the entrance gates.

Access To (Road Safari - Section 2 - Savannah House)

  • Once through the entrance gates, Signs direct visitors to the left where there are Dwarf Forest Buffalo, Southern White Rhino, Ostrich, Sable Antelope, Grevy's Zebra, Eland and Akole Cattle.
    There are warning signs at the stage informing soft top convertible owners cannot enter and must go straight on.
    This is also the direction for the Foot Safari.

Access To (Road Safari - Section 3 - Kingdom of the Carnivores)

  • Entry to the Kingdom of Carnivores is controlled via 2 sets of gates.
    The entry gate is opened automatically via staff in the patrol hut.
    Signage informs visitors that animals bite and instructs them to keep windows closed and to stay in their cars.
    When the first gate is closed, the 2nd opens.
    There are 2 lanes to allow for parking and overtaking.
    The carnivores roam freely throughout this area.
    There are patrol vehicles present in all sections at all times.
    There are Canadian Timber Wolves and American Black Bears in the first section.
    Signs warn visitors that bears can damage their car and to keep driving slowly.
    The second section which contains Amur Tigers and African Lions.
    Visitors exit the Kingdom of the Carnivores via 2 sets of electrically controlled gates which are operated by staff.

Access To (Road Safari - Section 4 - Giraffe Junction)

  • On leaving the Kingdom of the Carnivores, the road follows around to the left, with the Giraffe House located directly ahead.
    Beyond the gate there is a cattle grid across the road.
    Rothchild's Giraffe, Blesbok and Scimitar Horned Oryx can be seen roaming the fields and road through this section.
    There are 2 lanes to allow parking and overtaking in this area.
    There is a further cattle grid across the road at the exit, which does not have any gates.
    The route is signposted to the left towards the African Forest.
    At this point visitors can go straight ahead to the Foot Safari should they wish.

Access To (Road Safari - Section 5 - African Forest)

  • The African Forest is located to the left, beyond the Giraffe House.
    Signage warns that Barbary Macaques may jump on vehicles and cause damage and that the animals bite. Additional signage reminds visitors to stay in vehicles and keep doors locked and windows/sunroofs closed.
    There is a sign instructing soft top convertible owners turn right rather than enter the gates to this section.
    There are 2 lanes to allow for parking and overtaking.
    There are Barbary Macaque, East African Mountain Bongo and Somali Wild Ass in this section.
    Gates are opened for visitors on exit.

Access To (Road Safari - Section 6 - Way to Foot Safari, Repeat Circuit or Exit)

  • On leaving the African Forest, follow the signs straight ahead and continue straight ahead at the roundabout to exit.
    Turn right at the roundabout to access the Foot Safari car park located on your right.
    Alternatively, continue straight on at this point to complete a repeat circuit where you will see Asian Elephants before joining the Road Safari again, just beyond the entrance gates.
