Access Guide
Introduction
- This route runs from the bus stops next to the Main Reception to the Chaplaincy Building. This route is approximately 400 metres long.

Bus Stop to Exchange Building
- On exiting the bus, turn right and follow the path.
- After 15 metres, the surface of the path changes from a concrete path to a slabbed path.
- After a further 20 metres, the width of the path is restricted to 140cm due to bollards across the path (photographs 3 and 4).
- The surface changes from paving slabs to block paving (photograph 5).
- Continue past the bollards for 20 metres until the path separates into two (photograph 6).
- Take the right fork for 20 metres until coming to the road (photographs 7 and 8).
- Use the dropped kerb which does not have tactile paving to cross the road (photographs 9 and 10).
Exchange Building to FXU Building
- Using the dropped kerb, follow the block paved road to the left with the Stannary Extension on the right (photograph 1).
- The surface changes from block paving to tarmac (photographs 2 and 3).
- Follow the path for 20 metres to the right hand bend past the Chapel Lecture Theatre on the left (photograph 4).
- Continue up a slight hill for 30 metres past the Stannary Café on the right (photograph 5).
- Follow the continued slight upward gradient left hand bend in front of the FXU Building (photographs 6 and 7).
FXU Building to Estates Building
- Follow the path round to the left (photographs 1 and 2).
- The path gradient increases to a steep slope as the path bends round to the right (photograph 3).
- Follow the path for 30 metres until a service road (photograph 5).
- Cross the service road and turn immediately left along the path leading behind Car Park E.
- There are bollards with a separation of approximately 75cm (photographs 6 and 7).
- This path has a tarmac surface and the gradient decreases to a slight hill (photographs 8 and 9).
- Follow the path along for 40 metres until a reaching a service road (photograph 10).
- There are bollards with a separation of approximately 130cm (photograph 11).
- Continue to cross the road and follow the path directly ahead.
- The Estates Building is on the left hand side.
Estates Building to Chaplaincy Barton Cottage
- Follow the path directly ahead to a slight downhill gradient for 75 metres.
- Take the right fork in the road (photograph 6).
- The concrete surface is mostly smooth but uneven in places.
- Proceed for 65 metres following the path round to the left (photograph 9).
- There is a slight to steep downward gradient change for approximately 30 metres until a further gradient change to a slight slope (photographs 10 and 11).
- There is a path on the left leading to the front of the Chaplaincy (photographs 11 and 12).
- The path has a width of 80cm and has thick bushes on the right hand side.
- Follow the path round to the front of the building.
