Access Guide
Introduction
- This route runs from the main bus stops next to the Main Reception to the ESI Building. This route is approximately 320 metres long.

Bus Stop to Exchange Building
- On exiting the bus, turn right and follow the path.
- After 15 metres, the surface of the path changes from a concrete path to a slabbed path.
- After a further 20 metres, the width of the path is restricted to 140cm due to bollards across the path (photographs 3 and 4).
- The surface changes from paving slabs to block paving (photograph 5).
- Continue past the bollards for 20 metres until the path separates into two (photograph 6).
- Take the right fork for 20 metres until coming to the road (photographs 7 and 8).
- Use the dropped kerb which does not have tactile paving to cross the road (photographs 9 and 10).
Exchange Building to Zebra Crossing
- After the road crossing is the Exchange Building (photograph 1).
- Turn right and follow the path up the slight hill towards the main road (photographs 2, 3 and 4).
- Follow the path for 25 metres until reaching the top.
- On the right hand side is a road with dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides (photograph 5).
- Cross the road and turn left and continue to follow the path (photograph 6).
- This path is level and has a tarmac surface (photograph 7).
- After a further 30 metres, there is a zebra crossing on the left (photograph 8).
- The crossing has dropped kerbs on either side and a level surface.
- The crossing does not have tactile paving.
Zebra Crossing to AIR Building
- After crossing the road, turn left and follow the path as it bends to the right (photograph 1).
- The path begins to have a slight slope facing up hill (photographs 2 and 3).
- Continue for 30 metres up to a set of bollards, width restricted to 80cm (photograph 4).
- Continue past the bollards for another 40 metres until the next zebra crossing (photographs 5, 6 and 7).
- This zebra crossing has a level surface as well as dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides (photograph 8).
- Cross the road, continue past the AIR Building on the right hand side.
AIR Building to ESI Building
- Follow the path up the slight hill for 65 metres.
- After the zebra crossing (photograph 1), the smooth concrete path (photographs 2 and 3) is slightly uneven in places.
- After passing the SERSF Building on the opposite side of the road, there is a zebra crossing (photograph 4).
- This zebra crossing has dropped kerbs on both sides.
- There is tactile paving on the far side of the road (photograph 5).
- Cross the road and continue to follow the block paved path up the hill (photographs 6, 7 and 8).
- Continue past the ESI Building on the left for 40 metres (photographs 9 and 10).
- Follow the path to the left, around to the front of the building (photograph 11).
- Continue to follow the path to the main entrance (photograph 12).
