Route from Penryn Campus Bus Stops (Near Reception) to Games Academy

Introduction

Bus Station

  • There are four bus stands located at the bus station. These are labelled A, B, C and D.
  • These bus stops are cloistered and have seating available.
  • Stand A Serves routes U1, U2 and U3.
  • Stand B Serves route 69a.
  • Stand C Serves routes U1 and U2.
  • Stand D Serves routes M6 and U4.

Bus Station to Reception

  • Upon exiting the bus at the bus station turn right and head along the pavement until you reach the main campus reception, a distance of 111 metres from the furthest bus stand.
  • There is approximately 130cm between the bus stands and the edge of the pavement.
  • The bus station area can be seen in photographs 1, 2 and 3.
  • The surface of the pavement is tarmac.
  • There is a very slight downhill gradient as you head towards the reception.
  • As you continue along the path after the bus station the gradient becomes slightly more pronounced (photograph 4).
  • Approximately 10 metres from the reception there are widely spaced bollards, and the surface of the area becomes block paved (photographs 5, 6 and 7).

Reception to SoFT: Main Building

  • Head along the path to the right of the Reception and keep going until you reach the main entrance to the SoFT: Main Building, a distance of approximately 55 metres.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving.
  • If you stay close to the buildings on the left there is a canopy.
  • Staying close to the side of the building to your left there is a tunnel-like area which has a width of 170cm (photograph 4).
  • After this, the entrance to SoFT will be to your left (photograph 5).

Outside Access (School of Film and Television (SOFT))

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are single.
    • The width of the door opening is 118cm (3ft 10in).
  • Second Set of Doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are single.
    • The width of the door opening is 118cm (3ft 10in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of less than 2cm.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope at this entrance.
    • The ramp/slope is located in front of the entrance.
    • The ramp/slope gradient is slight.
  • Comments View
    • The entrance accesses the building on the ground floor of the building.

SoFT: Main Building Entrance to SoFT: Main Building Lift

  • Turn left on entering the SoFT: Main Building and head towards the lift.
  • The lift is located 8 metres from the Main Entrance.
  • There is a level surface between the main entrance and lift.
  • Take the lift to the lower ground floor.

Lift (School of Film and Television (SOFT))

  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is located to your left upon entering.
  • The lift is a standard lift.
  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are LG, G and 1.
  • Wall mounted information boards are provided at lift landings.
  • The weight limit for the lift is 630kg.
  • The lift is approximately 8m (8yd 2ft) from the main entrance.
  • Staff do need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The clear door width is 80cm (2ft 7in).
  • The dimensions of the lift are 110cm x 140cm (3ft 7in x 4ft 7in).
  • There are not separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
  • There is a mirror to aid reversing out of the lift.
  • The lift does have a visual floor indicator.
  • The lift does have an audible announcer.
  • The lift does not have a hearing enhancement system.
  • The lift does not have Braille markings.
  • The lift does not have tactile markings.
  • The controls for the lift are within 90cm - 120cm from the floor.
  • The lighting level in the lift is good.

SoFT: Main Building Lift to Soft: Games and Animation Entrance

  • Upon exiting the lift on the lower ground floor head directly in front of you towards the link to Soft: Games and Animation. This is approximately 10 metres from the lift.
  • The path to the link between the SoFT: Main Building and SoFT: Games and Animation from the lift is level.

Entrance (Link from SoFT: Main Building to SoFT: Games and Animation)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located on the lower ground floor of the SoFT main building.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • The main door(s) open(s) away from you (push).
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The door(s) may be difficult to open.
    • The width of the door opening is 160cm (5ft 3in).
  • Second Set of Doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The main door(s) open(s) both ways.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The door(s) is/are permanently held open.
    • The width of the door opening is 150cm (4ft 11in).
  • Ramp/Slope View

    • The ramp/slope bypasses the steps.

    • The ramp does not have handrails.
    • The handrails are on both sides going up.
  • Comments View
    • There is a third set of doors to access the building with an additional slight slope to access the building. The doors are automatic and open towards you, have a width of 160cm and have a card reader at a height of 95cm.
    • The doors and slope can be seen in photograph 4.

SoFT: Games Academy and Animation to Peter Lanyon West Lift

  • Turn right on entering SoFT: Games Academy and Animation and continue until you reach the lift. This is a distance of approximately 40 metres.
  • As you do so, there is an open doorway with a width of 90cm. The doorway can be seen in photograph 1.
  • Then there is a small slight slope with a width of 130cm, which can be seen in photograph 2.
  • After this continue down the corridor (photograph 3).
  • At the end of the corridor you will enter the lift area.
  • The lifts will be to your left (photograph 4).
  • Take the lift to the ground floor.

Lift (Peter Lanyon West / SoFT: Games Academy and Animation)

  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is located to your left on entrance.
  • The lift is a standard lift.
  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are G, 1.
  • Wall mounted information boards are not provided at lift landings.
  • The lift is approximately 8m (8yd 2ft) from the side entrance.
  • Staff do not need to be notified for use of the lift.

Peter Lanyon East / Soft Games Academy and Animation Lift to Peter Lanyon East Side Entrance

  • Turn right and head to the side entrance. This is a distance of approximately 8 metres.
  • There is level access from the lift to the entrance.
  • The entrance as viewed from inside the building (photograph 2).

Outside Access (Side Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located at the left of the building.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) towards you (pull).
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The door(s) is / are heavy.
    • The width of the door opening is 180cm (5ft 11in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope at this entrance.
    • The ramp/slope is located in front of the entrance.
    • The ramp/slope gradient is slight.

Peter Lanyon West (Institute of Photography) Side Entrance to Crossroads

  • The distance to the crossroad is approximately 170m.
  • Upon exiting the building there is a small tactile area followed by a gravel area. This can be seen in photograph 1.
  • You will need to take the second path to your right which starts gravel and becomes tarmac as can be seen in photographs 2 and 3.
  • The gradient of the slope is slight.
  • There are seats along the path as can be seen in photograph 4.
  • As you reach the crossroads you will find bollards to access it with a width of 122cm. These can be seen in photograph 6.

Crossroads to Wooden Decked Walkway

  • Upon entering the crossroads turn and head down the path to the wooden decked area. This is a distance of approximately 125 metres.
  • When you turn left there is another set of bollards with a width of 140cm (photograph 1).
  • After this there is a wide steep slope through the woods.
  • Continue until the wooden decked walkway on the right.

Wooden Decked Walkway to Studytel Penryn Construction Diversion

  • Turn right down the wooden decked walkway for 150 metres.
  • The walkway has a slight downward gradient with wooden handrails on either side.
  • Continue down to the end of the walkway.
  • The walkway ends at construction works for the Studytel Penryn Building (photographs 6 and 7).
  • The going from here is very rough, consisting largely of grass, dirt, and stony ground.

Studytel Penryn Construction Diversion to Footpath

  • The wooden decking ends and becomes a tarmac path for approximately 6 metres.
  • The going here is uneven with a slight slope to the left (photograph 1).
  • Turn left before the building site compound fence.
  • The route then becomes a dirt path between 75cm and 100cm wide (photograph 2).
  • The path continues along for 30 metres with dirt underfoot and building site compound fencing on the right hand side (photograph 2).
  • Proceed past some old football goal posts (photograph 3) for a further 30 metres to the end of the dirt path (photograph 4).
  • At the end of the straight section there is uneven stony ground for 10 metres (photograph 5).
  • Continue on the grass, turning right around the building site compound (photograph 6).
  • Continue straight along the grass path with trees on the left (photograph 7).
  • Regain the dirt path about halfway along after 40 metres (photographs 8, 9 and 10).
  • Continue to the end of the compound for a further 50 metres until reaching a tarmac footpath (photograph 11).

Footpath to Parkengue

  • Turn right onto the tarmac footpath and continue for 75 metres.
  • The smooth footpath has a slight slope at the end (photograph 2).
  • Turn left at the T-junction (photograph 3).
  • Proceed up a steep slope for 12 metres (photograph 4).
  • At the footpath junction, turn right (photograph 5).
  • Proceed down a slight slope with a fence on the right (photograph 6).
  • The footpath has an uneven surface and levels off quickly.
  • Continue along the footpath for 60 metres (photographs 7 and 8).
  • Continue for 15 metres down a slight downward slope towards a safety barrier at the road (photographs 9 and 10).

Parkengue to Games Academy

  • Turn right at the safety barrier and follow the pavement down a steep slope (photograph 1).
  • The pavement has an uneven tarmac surface for 25 metres until it levels off (photograph 2).
  • Continue along the pavement for 50 metres until the pavement begins to become a slight slope (photograph 3).
  • There are some uneven surfaces with dropped kerbs and an adverse camber (photograph 4).
  • Continue along for 25 metres, during which the pavement becomes increasingly steep, until you reach an access road (photograph 5).
  • There is no dropped kerb to leave the pavement (photograph 6).
  • Turn right into the Games Academy car park, towards the Games Academy building on the left.
  • The car park is slightly uneven (photograph 7).
  • The accessible entrance is located off the car park, to the right of the building.

Outside Access (Side Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located at the right of the building off the car park.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • A key fob is required for access at this entrance.
    • The height of the card reader/lock is 101cm (3ft 4in).
    • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically (towards you).
    • The door(s) is/are push pad activated when exiting.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 127cm (4ft 2in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of less than 2cm.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope at this entrance.
    • The ramp/slope is located in front of the entrance.
    • The ramp/slope gradient is slight.
    • The ramp is permanent.
    • There is not a level landing at the top of the ramp.
    • The ramp does not have handrails.
    • The width of the ramp is 134cm (4ft 5in).

    • The doors are a fire exit which can be opened and used as an entrance. People wishing to use this as an entrance should inform building staff ahead of time.
