Access Guide
Introduction
- The distance between the furthest bus stop and Glasney Lodge is approximately 250 metres. This should take approximately 4 minutes to cover.
Along the route there are steep and slight slopes, as well as block paved and tarmac surfaces. - Related link Reception.

Bus Station
- There are four bus stands located at the bus station. These are labelled A, B, C and D.
- These bus stops are cloistered and have seating available.
- Stand A Serves routes U1, U2 and U3.
- Stand B Serves route 69a.
- Stand C Serves routes U1 and U2.
- Stand D Serves routes M6 and U4.
Bus Station to Reception
- Upon exiting the bus at the bus station turn right and head along the pavement until you reach the main campus reception, a distance of 111 metres from the furthest bus stand.
- There is approximately 130cm between the bus stands and the edge of the pavement.
- The bus station area can be seen in photographs 1, 2 and 3.
- The surface of the pavement is tarmac.
- There is a very slight downhill gradient as you head towards the reception.
- As you continue along the path after the bus station the gradient becomes slightly more pronounced (photograph 4).
- Approximately 10 metres from the reception there are widely spaced bollards, and the surface of the area becomes block paved (photographs 5, 6 and 7).
Reception to Peter Lanyon / Glasney Parc Access Road
- Turn left upon reaching the Reception and head downhill until you reach the access road to Peter Lanyon / Glasney Parc, a distance of approximately 100 metres.
- There is a slight downhill gradient as you turn left.
- The surface of this area is block paving with bollards to the left (photograph 1).
- After approximately 10 metres you will encounter a tarmac service area covering about 15 metre with a designated pedestrian route across it marked by a bollard (photograph 2).
- On the far side there is a tactile dropped kerb (photograph 3).
- Upon reaching the far side of the service area head downhill along the block paved pavement past the Reprographics Building to the right (photograph 4).
- The pavement here has a steep downhill gradient (photographs 5 and 6).
- On approach to the Peter Lanyon / Glasney Parc Access Road proceed past a tactile dropped kerb (photograph 7).
- Continue to the right to a tactile dropped kerb (photograph 8).
- Cross the Peter Lanyon / Glasney Parc Access Road using the dropped kerb crossing.
Peter Lanyon / Glasney Parc Access Road to Glasney Lodge
- Cross the Peter Lanyon / Glasney Parc Access Road and head along the pavement until you reach Glasney Lodge, a distance of approximately 32 metres.
- The crossing has tactile kerbs on either side (photograph 1) which are level with the tarmac road.
- Upon reaching the far side of the road the surface of the pavement is block paving and there is a slight gradient until you Glasney Lodge (photograph 2).
- In order to reach the entrance into the lodge it is then necessary to head down the pavement to the main entrance.
- The pavement here has a steep downhill slope (photograph 3).
- You will soon see a canopy to you right head into it and access the building via the entrance located within.
- There are also two vending machines.
- The drinks vending machine located here has controls at a height of 122cm and the sweets vending machine controls at a height of 150cm.

- The width of the door opening is 76cm (2ft 6in).
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of less than 2cm.
