Getting Help and Assistance

  • For passengers requiring additional assistance services please click here (new tab).
  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not a member of staff trained in British Sign Language.
  • British Sign Language interpreters cannot be provided on request.
  • The alternative formats documents can be provided in include; large print on request.
  • There is an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • The assistance dog toilet or toileting area is located on the grass to the righty of the terminal building.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are not available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs and walking sticks.

  • There is a designated place of safety which can be used by people with dementia, autism or learning disabilities.

    Passengers requiring assistance from their vehicles should contact the information desk via the intercom on the entrance barrier or on 01851 702 256.
  • Airline staff will guide you through the procedures required with regards to mobility equipment and requirements with regards to motorised equipment.
    Please contact the airline prior to booking as the carriage of motorised mobility equipment is limited depending on the type of aircraft.
    The carriage of mobility equipment over 23 kilograms may also be subject to the approval of the airports concerned.
  • Drop Off and Pick Up Zones and Disabled Parking Bays:-
    There is a drop off / pick up zone outside the terminal in front of the main entrance.
    There is a disabled passenger drop off area at the front of the terminal building; drivers should use the intercom at the entrance barrier.
    There are 12 disabled parking spaces within the main car park.
  • The airport has a small number of bariatric wheelchairs available on request.
    An Aviramp, Ambulift and stair climber are available to assist passengers with access and egress to aircraft dependant on passenger needs and local conditions.

Disembarking the Aircraft

  • Disembarking from the aircraft may be by airstair and/or steps, or via mobile ramp (Aviramp) or Ambulift. The choice will depend on aircraft type and weather and wind conditions.
  • The accessibility of the aircraft varies according to the individual aircraft, provider or airport. Please contact the airline prior to booking for more information.
  • Wheelchair users may transfer to a stair climber or aisle chair (type may vary) for assisted egress from the aircraft.
  • The route from the aircraft across the apron to the arrivals gate is level with tarmac and block paving.
  • There is a slope with a very slight incline at the arrivals gate.

Ambulift(s)

  • The clear door width of the lift entrance is 191cm.
  • The dimensions of the lift are 195cm x 130cm (6ft 5in x 4ft 3in).
