COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in October 2020.
  • There is a queuing system in place for entry to the building with a temporary marquee.
  • Passengers are let in one by one and met by a greeter who informs them about what restrictions are in place and the use of sanitisers.
  • The main terminal building is cordoned off into two sections to divide those checking-in from arrivals. This means that those in the Check-In Hall who wish to use the Multi-Denominational Prayer Room or the Changing Place have to leave the building and re-enter by the other entrance. The key to the Changing Place has to be first picked up at the information desk at the Check-In Hall entrance.
  • There are sanitising stations throughout the terminal building.
  • In Security, the benches after the security gates have been divided into sections for individual or family grouping use, to allow for social distancing.
  • There is signage throughout and floor markings for queuing at check-in desks.
  • Desks and counters throughout the airport have protective screens.
  • The accessible toilets in the International Arrivals Baggage Claim have been reduced from two to a single shared facility. The other is now for the use of Border Patrol staff only. This means that there is now only a right hand transfer toilet (the other being left hand transfer).
  • Standard toilets have some restrictions with urinals closed off etc. but all are open.
  • The following areas are currently closed; WHSmith in the Check-In Hall, the Meeting Place cafĂ© in the Arrivals Hall and the Aspire Lounge in Departures.
  • Face masks are required throughout the terminal building.

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The airport is situated 15 minutes drive from the city centre via the A96 and B9039 as signposted.
      For SatNav please use the postcode IV2 7JB.
    • There is a drop off zone for all passengers within the Short Stay Car Park closest to the terminal.
      Car parking is free for the first 10 minutes to allow time to drop off passengers.
      The Short Stay Car Park and Blue Badge Parking is directly in front of the Terminal Building.
      Blue Badge holders may use this car park for long stay parking at normal long stay parking rates.
      Long Stay Parking is a 5 minute walk (800m) from the Terminal Building via a service road.
      There is also an overflow car park available for short and long stay parking.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • Stagecoach operates the Jet Bus Service to Inverness Airport with up to a 30 minute service between the City of Inverness and the airport and up to an hourly service from the airport to Nairn.
      Buses run more frequently at peak times of the day.
      Please check current timetables before travel and on arrival contact the information desk for assistance with bus timings for your onward journey.

  • By Train View
    • The nearest Railway Station is Inverness.
    • Inverness Station is approximately a 15 minute taxi ride away from the airport and onward links are available to many destinations within the Highlands as well as Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
      If travelling by bus from Inverness Airport, passengers should get off at Academy Street by the Eastgate Shopping Centre to access the train station.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is not a member of staff trained in British Sign Language.
  • British Sign Language interpreters cannot be provided on request.
  • There is not an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include walking sticks and wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact the Special Assistance Team at the Information Desk.
  • Passengers requiring assistance are requested to pre-book at least 48 hours before the scheduled time of departure for their flight.
    This booking should be made with the your airline carrier, tour operator or travel agent.
    If this information is not made available within these time frames assistance may be limited or delayed.
    Carriage by the airline may also be denied.
    Best efforts will be made at all times to accommodate late bookings for assistance.

  • On arrival at the airport there are special assistance call points located in the Short Stay Premium Car Park 1, by the drop off zone, by the taxi rank and by the bus stop, with designated shelters adjacent.
    Assistance is then provided at all points from the call point through embarkation onto the aircraft.
  • Accessibility on the aircraft is the responsibility of the airline and is dependent on the individual provider.

Ambulift

  • The ambulift is used for passengers who are unable to board or disembark the aircraft via steps.
  • The ambulift transports passengers from the terminal to the aircraft door and vice versa.
  • There is a lift which is located at the rear of the vehicle.
  • The lift is 233cm wide by 160cm deep.
  • The lift is operated by a member of staff.
  • There is fixed seating and space for wheelchair users.
  • Narrow wheelchairs are available to transfer passengers onto and off the aircraft.
  • The ambulift is raised up to the airplane doors, where the passengers are moved onto or off the airplane via an extending bridge.
  • The bridge is 76cm wide.
  • The accessibility of the individual aeroplane varies depending on the provider.

Domestic Arrivals to Arrivals Hall

  • Exit from the aircraft is by Ambulift or by steps and on foot to the Domestic Arrivals Walkway.
  • After being directed by staff to the apron, follow the signs for Domestic Arrivals.
  • The route to the Arrivals Hall is approximately 100m from the apron and is step free.
  • Take the covered walkway that bypasses the International Arrivals Building. Follow the covered walkway around to the left, all the way to the Domestic Arrivals entrance.
  • The walkway is level for it's full length.
  • Enter the Main Terminal - Arrivals Hall.
  • The luggage carousel is on the left as you enter.

Outside Access (Arrivals Hall - Domestic Arrivals Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located at the rear of the Arrivals building at the end of the covered walkway.
    • The entrance area/door is clearly signed.
    • There is step-free access at this entrance.
    • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • There is a dark mat or floor marking at this entrance that might be perceived as a hole.
    • The entrance door(s) does/do contrast visually with its immediate surroundings.
    • The main door(s) open(s) towards you (pull).
    • The door(s) is/are double width.
    • The door(s) is/are permanently held open.
    • The width of the door opening is 144cm.
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
    • There is a slope with a very easy incline.

Getting Around (Domestic Arrivals and Baggage Reclaim)

    • There is step-free access throughout the area.
  • Circulation View
    • There are not doors in corridors/walkways which have to be opened manually.
    • The type of flooring in corridors/walkways is tiles.
    • There is some flooring in corridors/walkways which is shiny and could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people.
