Introduction - IWM Duxford Air Shows

  • At the IWM Duxford Air Shows, experience the power and excitement of the aircraft taking to the skies. The air shows give you a front row seat to some of the most exciting displays of historic and iconic aircraft such as Spitfires, Hurricanes and Lancasters.

Summary - Airshow Parking

  • For Duxford Air Shows there are a number of car parks available for the event. Including East Car Park, West Car Park, North Car Park and Meadows Car Park.
  • Visitors must pre-purchase parking permits prior to the Air Show.
  • Each car park is clearly signposted, and staff will direct you to the closest entrance.
  • Please ensure you display your parking permit on your windscreen as you arrive at the car park for staff to check, and keep it displayed clearly during your visit.
  • Blue Badge holders are able to purchase a disabled access parking permit. On arrival Blue Badge parking will be clearly sign posted.
  • Once parked in the Blue Badge car park, our Accessibility Champions will be on hand to assist you to the facilities that matter the most.

Summary - Park and Ride

  • Trumpington Park & Ride
  • A free courtesy bus runs from Trumpington Park & Ride at Junction 11 of the M11 from 08:30 every 30 minutes until approximately 13:30. Please do not board a courtesy bus without your valid (readable barcode), pre-purchased ticket as there are no tickets for sale on the door.
  • Buses will return to the Park & Ride at regular intervals from 15:30 every 30 minutes, with the last bus leaving IWM Duxford at 18:30. Timings of buses may be affected by local road traffic congestion. There are limited parking spaces at Trumpington Park and Ride.
  • Babraham Park and Ride Pre-booked offsite car parking permit holders
  • A limited number of Pre-booked off-site parking spaces at Babraham Park and Ride, Cambridge were released to cope with demand. These are now sold out.
  • The shuttle buses from Babraham Park and Ride pick up from 08:30 until 13:30. They return from Duxford from 15:30 with the last bus being at 18:30.

Parking (West Car Park - Blue Badge Parking)

    • The venue does have its own parking facilities.
    • The car park is located off the A505.
    • The car park type is open air/surface.
  • Blue Badge Parking View
    • There is a/are Blue Badge parking bay(s) available.
    • There is/are 10+ designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) within the car park.
    • The dimensions of the designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) surveyed are 230cm x 530cm (7ft 7in x 17ft 5in).
    • The dimensions of other designated Blue Badge parking bay(s) vary in size.
    • Parking spaces for Blue Badge holders do need to be booked in advance.

West Car Park - Temporary Accessible Toilet

  • There is a 1.5cm threshold as you enter.
  • The door opens towards you (pull) and is easy to open.
  • The door is 80cm wide.
  • The door has a sliding bolt lock.
  • The contrast between the door and the wall is poor.
  • The toilet dimensions are 145cm x 140cm.
  • There is a 145cm x 90cm manoeuvring space in front of the seat.
  • There is a 75cm transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The flush is to the left as you face the toilet.
  • The flush is a lever operated.
  • The height of the seat is 45cm.
  • There is no mirror available.
  • There are no coat hooks available.
  • There is not an emergency alarm available.
  • The contrast between the toilet seat and pan/cistern is good.
  • There is a horizontal grab rail located on the walls to the left as you face the toilet and on the rear wall of the toilet.
  • The contrast between the grab rail and the wall is good.
  • The height of the hand sanitiser is 115cm.
  • The hand sanitiser cannot be reached from seated on the toilet.
  • The height of the toilet roll holder is 60cm.

West Car Park - Temporary Standard Toilet

  • There are 3 of temporary standard toilets within West Car Park.

Parking (East Car Park)

Babraham and Trumpington - Park and Ride Drop-Off

  • Babraham and Trumpington Park and Ride buses drop-off outside the Officer's Mess close to the North Car Park (as shown in photographs 1 and 2).
  • The buses run from the two sites from 08:30 until 13:30.
  • Buses back run from 15:30 to 18:30.
  • Buses are approximately every 30 minutes during these periods.
  • There is a level tarmac path from the drop-off area to the North Car Park.
  • It is approximately 130 metres from the drop-off area to the North Car Park ticket check point.
  • It is then approximately 200 more metres to the airshow site via the footbridge.

North Car Park - Ticket Check Points

  • There are ticket booths in the car park which visitors have to pass by before accessing the footbridge to the site.
  • The height of the windows are 120cm.

North Car Park - Temporary Standard Toilets

  • There are 3 temporary standard toilets in the North Car Park.
  • The toilets are accessed via an 18cm step.
  • The step is not clearly marked and does not have a handrail.

North Car Park / Park & Ride Drop-Off to the Airshow

  • After the ticket check point the footpath has a steep uphill gradient for approximately 100 metres up to the bridge.
  • It then levels out for approximately 35 metres as it crosses the A505.
  • There are some temporary barriers along this section.
  • The minimum gap past the barriers was 105cm at the time of the survey.
  • The path has a tarmac surface which is mostly smooth but does have some worn patches.
  • After the crossing there is a steep downhill slope for approximately 70 metres leading into the site.
  • There are some more temporary barriers at the end of this section as you reach the site.

  • Staff are positioned here and can provide assistance.

Parking (Meadow Car Park)

Meadow Car Park to the Air Show

  • To reach the museum from the car park there is a walk of approximately 500m.
  • Upon exiting the car park there is a path leading to a crossing point.
  • This path has a width of 50cm.
  • The speed limit on Airshow days is reduced and staff members may be able to assist with crossing the road.
