The neighbouring David Livingstone Memorial Bridge may have easier access to view the river, although there is a long slope along Station Road.
Outdoor Spaces (David Livingstone Memorial Bridge)
- The following is available in this area: a memorial bridge with views to Blantyre weir and the former mills.
- Outdoor areas consist of concrete or tarmac.
- There are footpaths throughout.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- The following areas have step-free access via ramps or slopes: Station Road which is used to access the bridge.

The memorial bridge is not part of the David Livingstone Birthplace but is located directly beside it (approximately 100 metres from the car park).
