About Land Securities

Landsec is one of the largest real estate companies in Europe with a portfolio spanning across 24 million sq ft of well-connected, experience-led retail, leisure, workspace and residential hubs across the UK.

This year, Landsec took part in a number of AccessAble assessments to identify ways of improving the accessibility and inclusivity of its retail destinations. National access information providers performed an in-depth audit of each site – including Trinity Leeds and Gunwharf Quays – using a survey method with input from over 800 groups of disabled people.

Now, the company has now introduced a number of changes – including weekly quiet hours and hidden disability lanyards – as a way of improving the customer experience of guests with disabilities. AccessAble has also rolled out access guides for each of Landsec’s retail destinations to ensure guests can plan their journey in advance and make the most of the services available to them.

Landsec is committed to registering its centres and outlets into the Disability Confident accreditation scheme, which is a nationally recognised assessment that encourages businesses to recruit and retain disabled employees and people with long-term health conditions. This will involve training front-of-house staff to give them the confidence to engage customers with disabilities in conversation.
