    • Martens Grove Park is an area of mature woodland and grassland within a steep-sided valley.
    • The park is bounded by Martens Avenue to the south and Stevens Road and Oakwood Drive to the north. There are entrances to the park on all sides.

Martens Avenue Entrance for Playground

Martens Avenue Entrance - opposite Park Grove

  • The tarmac path leading from this entrance has some steep sections on the route into the valley, without level resting places.
  • There is a barrier part way along which has an opening width of 150cm.

Martens Avenue Entrance - opposite Grove Road

  • The opening at this entrance is 90cm (2ft 11in).
  • There are some steep slopes on the path into the valley towards the cycle track and ball court.

Stephen Road Entrance

  • The gate at this entrance is held open.
  • The opening is 90cm (2ft 11in) wide.
  • There are slight slopes on the paths between this entrance and the Oakwood Drive entrance, which also lead to the steps or long slope into the valley.

Oakwood Drive Entrance

  • The entrance is located at the end of Oakwood Drive cul-de-sac.
  • The paths from this entrance are initially tarmac but become unmade and uneven and have some steep slopes into the park.

Spring Vale Entrance

  • This entrance is located at the bend in the road on Spring Vale, off Pinnacle Hill.
  • There is an open access point with a clear width of 100cm.
  • There is a steep tarmac path which leads down to the valley at the centre of the park, near the cycle track.
  • There is a barrier with an opening of 150cm on the route.

  • The nearest park entrances are from Martens Avenue, using paths which have some steep sections.
  • There is step-free access into the area, with a gate 100cm wide which is held open when in use.
  • There is a beginners' area, with the larger BMX/skate track at the far end of the area.
  • The multi-use ball court is also marked out with a 'road' layout for cycle skills training.
