Head through Old Building to the Rear Accessible Entrance 70M

  • From the entrance foyer head forward for approximately 5m. The path here can be seen in photograph 1.
  • Turn right for approximately 7 as shown in photograph 2.
  • Then turn left for approximately 16m down the corridor shown in photograph 3.
  • Turn right for approximately 20m down the corridor shown in photograph 4.
  • Then turn left for approximately 22m down the corridor shown in photograph 5.

Outside Access (Portugal Street)

Turn Left to Reach Portugal Street Crossing 45M

Turn Right Down Portugal Street 100M

  • There is a slight gradient downhill and a slight gradient to the road.
  • After 70m cross St Clement's Lane. There are drop kerbs on either side with a cobbled road.
  • Continue onwards for another 30M.

Cross Portugal Street

  • Cross Portugal once you have passed the George IV pub.
  • There are drop kerbs on either side of Portugal Street.
  • The surface of the road is tarmac.

Cross John Watkins Plaza to the Library Main Entrance

  • There is a slight upwards gradient to reach the plaza.
  • There is a slight uphill gradient as you cross the plaza towards the entrance.

Continue along Portugal Street into John Watkins Plaza

  • Turn left and continue along Portugal Street.
  • There are some manhole covers and block paving before you reach the drop kerb for John Watkins Plaza.
  • This service road is concrete.
  • To access it, there is a small drop that is smaller if approached on the side of the pavement away from the kerb. The reason is that here the drop is only 3cm.
  • The surface of the plaza (if you wish to avoid the road) is block with an easy gradient heading into John Watkins Plaza.
