Access To
- BE053 is located on level 0 of the Loughborough Business School.
- The most accessible route has step-free level access.
- There is written text and numbered signage on or near the entrance.
- There is step-free level access to enter BE053.
- There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 87cm.
- The door has a high visual contrast.
- There are four entrances into this room, most of which are similar to the one surveyed.
- Two of the entrances, including the entrance surveyed, give access to the speaker's area and the first row of seating.
- The other two entrances gives access to the rear of the lecture theatre.
Teaching
- This is a lecture theatre.
- The following areas have stepped access: the tiered seating from the first row at the front of the lecture theatre to the second to last row at the rear of the lecture theatre.
- There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
- There is a clearly signed fixed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system could not be tested at the time of the survey.
- Floor coverings are even with no trip hazards.
- The walls and floor have a high visual contrast.
- Lighting levels were uneven at the time of the survey, with pools of light and shade.
- Lighting levels are adjustable.
- There is tiered seating with no handrails at the steps.
- There are no designated spaces for wheelchair users.
- There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
- Seating available in the room includes: chairs without armrests, armchairs, sofas and lecture chairs.
- Furniture available in the room includes: tables, coffee tables and desks.
- All desks and some seating are fixed.
- Some surface heights are suitable for wheelchair users.
- The clear underside space of some surfaces is suitable for wheelchair users.
- The height of the speaker's desk/table is 83cm.
- The speaker's desk/table is not height adjustable.
- This room has a television screen, a projector screen and a whiteboard.
- There is step-free access to the speaker's area at the front of the lecture theatre and the last row of the tiered seating at the rear of the lecture theatre only.
This is by using different entrances into the lecture theatre.
