Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level.
  • Stewart Mason Building has two entrances.
    Both entrances provide step-free level access to the ground floor.
    The accessible entrance has push pad activated double automatic doors, the other entrance has a single manual door.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access throughout the building on all floors.
  • On the ground floor there is a slight ramp to access Lecture Theatre SMB010 and Lecture Theatre SMB014.
  • Access to Lecture Rooms SMB102-SMB105 and Computer Room SMB108 on the first floor is via a slight ramp.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are manual doors in some corridors.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The toilet with adaptations is located on the ground floor, off the main lobby area.
    • All toilets with adaptations have a right hand transfer space.
    • The toilet with adaptations is also signed for use as gender inclusive toilet.
    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located on the ground floor, off the main lobby area.

Entrance (Accessible)

  • This entrance is located at the front of the building.
  • The approach to the entrance has uneven surfaces.
  • The entrance area is not clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.

Lift

  • The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
  • The external lift control buttons have tactile markings and a low visual contrast.
  • All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

  • The internal dimensions of the lift are 126cm (width) x 140cm (depth).
