Madame Tussauds is able supply a virtual BSL interpreter, please scan a QR code or speak to a member of staff for more information. There accessibility call buttons located throughout the building. If you need assistance, please press one of these buttons and a member of staff will come meet you. During your visit to Madame Tussauds London, should you wish to enter Madame Tussauds London but later feel that you need to go into a quieter space in the attraction for a short while then please speak to any member of our team who will be able to assist you and you can then re-join the flow of the attraction when you are ready. If you wish to leave the attraction, then a team member will call for a manager who will be able to facilitate your exit. The attraction can be busy and noisy at times and as such, There are ear defenders for hire. Please speak to a member of the Admissions team on the day of your visit. On selected dates there are adjusted opening hours, with limited tickets available, to host Quiet Sessions at Madame Tussauds London. During these sessions, the venue reduces the sounds and lights within the attraction to provide a quieter experience and a more comfortable visit for those with autism and other sensory requirements. There is a steep slope which connects the Ticket Office to the main attraction, this can be used to access gain access main area or access the changing places. There is also an additional external ticket office, located to the right of the shop, the height of the counter is 120cm.

Changing Places (Ticket Office)

Lift (Staff Operated - Access to All Areas)

  • The dimensions of the lift are 110cm x 170cm.
  • Internally the lift has: a separate door to exit, a visual floor indicator and an audible announcer.
  • This lift is used to access all of the exhibition area, if you need to use this lift please speak to a member of staff.

Stairs (Entrance to Main Lift Lobby)

  • The floors which are accessible by stairs are Entrance to the Main Lift Lobby.
  • There are 15+ steps between floors.
  • The steps are not clearly marked with handrails on both sides.
  • This is a spiral staircase and will be narrower in some areas.

Lift (Lift Lobby to Awards)

  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are the lobby area and the awards area.
  • Externally the lift has: a door with a good colour contrast to the surroundings, buttons with a fair colour contrast to the surroundings and controls at a recommended height (between 90 - 110cm).
  • The lift door opening width is 120cm.

  • There is very slight slope leading down to the awards area. There is a slight slope leading to the awards photograph opportunity. From the Awards area the route moves onto the Fashion exhibition. There is a wax hands counter located in the film area, the height of the counter is 95cm, there is a lowered section and washbasin available, which is 77cm. In all areas the walkways can get very congested. To get to the next area, go back to the accessible lift to go to the Sports/Culture, Royal Family, and Impossible Festival Exhibition There is a slight slope which can be used to bypass the Fashion exhibition to return to the lift.

Stairs (Films to Sports and Culture, Royal Family, and Impossible Festival)

  • The floors which are accessible by stairs are Films to Sports and Culture.
  • There are 15+ steps between floors.
  • The steps are clearly marked with handrails on both sides.
  • The steps can be overcome by using the accessible lift.

Attraction / Exhibit (Sports and Culture, Royal Family, and Impossible Festival)

  • There is step-free level access to and throughout this area.
  • The majority of walkways are 150cm+ wide.
  • There is background noise here.
  • The following may be experienced on the tour: flash photography.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.

There is a slight slope to access the photo opportunities in the Impossible Festival. The walkways can be congested. There is stepped access leading down from the Impossible Festival to the Chambers of Horrors area and Spirit of London. Both areas can be accessed by the accessible lift.

Accessible Toilet (Sports and Culture - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This accessible toilet is located next to the Sports and Culture area.
  • There is step-free level access into the accessible toilet.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a poor colour contrast.
  • The width of the accessible toilet door opening is 79cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 155cm x 190cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.

Attraction / Exhibit (Chamber of Horrors)

  • There is step-free access to and throughout this area, via ramp/slope.
  • The majority of walkways are not 150cm+ wide.
  • There is background noise here.
  • The following may be experienced on the tour: smoke, fog, or misting effects, flash photography and sudden loud noises.
  • Some flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to uneven paving/tiles.
  • Some of the flooring includes large repeating patterns in bold colours, which may look like steps or holes to some people.
  • Lighting levels are low here.
  • There is step free access throughout the Chamber of Horrors. Guests not wishing to go through the Chambers of Horrors can bypass it and go directly to the Spirt of London Ride or Marvel area. There is slope leading up to the entrance to the Blind Beggar. There is a slope leading to the Jail area. The lighting levels can be very low in some parts of the Chamber of Horrors. The flooring is uneven in places and there are potential trip hazards. There are jump scares in places. At the rear of the Chamber of Horrors there is stepped access to the corridor leading to the Spirit of London ride. The steps can be overcome by using the accessible lift.

Stairs (Chamber of Horrors to Fame and Spirit of London Ride Corridor)

  • The floors which are accessible by stairs are Chamber of Horrors to Fame and Spirit of London Ride Corridor.
  • There are more than 20 steps between floors.
  • The steps are clearly marked with handrails on both sides.
  • The steps are medium height (11cm - 17cm).
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.

Spirit of London Ride

  • There is step only access onto the Spirit of London Ride and guests must be able to transfer from their wheelchair into the carriage.
  • The carriages are moving at the transfer point but staff can stop them.
  • There are VR headsets available for guests who can't access the ride to experience it, please speak to a member of staff for more information.

Accessible Toilet (Fame and Spirit Of London - Left Hand transfer)

  • This accessible toilet is located along the corridor to Fame and Spirit of London.
  • There is step-free level access into the accessible toilet.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a poor colour contrast.
  • The width of the accessible toilet door opening is 85cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 155cm x 215cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 85cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a push button flush on the wall above the cistern.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.

  • Next to the Spirit of London Ride there are doors which provide direct access to the Marvel Exhibition area. There is a chocolate fondue counter, the height of the counter is 100cm and there is a portable loop. The exhibition area is split over 2 floors, the steps can be overcome by the accessible lift.

Steps (Marvel Exhibit to Next Level)

  • There are 10 or more steps.
  • The steps are clearly marked with handrails on both sides.

Lift (Marvel Exhibit to Next Level)

  • A member of staff needs to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The lift overcomes a small level change.
  • The lift door opening width is 81cm.
  • The dimensions of the lift are 81cm x 125cm.

Attraction / Exhibit (Star Wars)

  • There is step-free level access to and throughout this area.
  • The majority of walkways are 150cm+ wide.
  • There is background noise here.
  • The following may be experienced on the tour: flash photography.
  • There are bench seats in this area.
  • All of the seating is fixed.
  • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.

  • The main route to the exhibit from the upper Marvel exhibit is stepped access and gives access to the Prequel Trilogy exhibits.
  • The accessible route to the exhibit gives access to the rear of the area, in the Original Trilogy area next to the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi exhibits.
  • There is a ramp leading down from the Yoda on Dagoba area down to the New Hope exhibits and Prequel Trilogy.
  • The walkways can get very busy with other guests, it may be best to wait for them to pass before going to the start of the exhibit.
  • There is a step up to the Mustafar photograph opportunity and the seats are fixed at the Millennium Falcon.
  • The lift to exit the area and Madame Tussauds is located next to the Return of the Jedi exhibits.

Accessible Toilet (Star Wars - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This accessible toilet is located next to the New Hope Exhibits.
  • There is step-free access into the accessible toilet.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • There is a manual door which opens outwards and has a fair colour contrast.
  • The width of the accessible toilet door opening is 85cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 150cm x 210cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 85cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the transfer side.

Accessible Route to the Shop

  • After exiting the lift, the access to the shop is located along Allsop Place.
