- Staircase House is famous for its rare Jacobean cage-newel staircase. A state-of-the-art audio guide recounts the full history of the house in several languages. The entrance to Staircase House is shared with Stockport Museum and the attraction itself is made up of the original house and staircase, accessed in most parts via a modern stairs and a lift.
- Facilities available in the venue include: shop, meeting and activity room, museum and historical displays.

Entrance (Level 1)

- The reception is located to left after entering the main venue entrance.
- The journey time to this reception from the main entrance is approximately 1 minute.

- The height of the reception desk is 77cm.
- There is not a lowered section at the desk.

- There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.

Lift
- The lift surveyed is located through the second entrance door to the Staircase Exhibition.
- The journey time to this lift from the main entrance is approximately 2 minutes.
- The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access, automatic doors and narrow walkways.
- Levels 0, 1, 2 and 3 are accessed by this lift.
- All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The lift door opening width is 90cm.
- The majority of the internal controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- Internally the lift has: a mirror to aid reversing and a visual floor indicator.
Stairs (Modern Staircase)
- The stairs surveyed are located next to the lift.
- Levels 0, 1, 2 and 3 can be accessed by these stairs.
- There are 20+ steps between floors which are clearly marked and have handrails on both sides.
Exhibition Space (Level 0)
