COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in October 2020.
  • Office hours are currently 09:00 - 17:00.
  • There is a parking space booking system in place. When arriving at George IV Bridge or Causewayside site, security will be informed and will direct you to the parking space.
  • Access to George IV Bridge and Lawnmarket is the same. Causewayside site is accessed via the South Yard entrance, address 161 Causewayside.
  • At George IV Bridge the entrance to the reading rooms and to the security suite has been diverted.
  • Hand sanitisers are available at the entrances, in offices and on every floor in all sites, along with masks, cleaning spray and paper towels.
  • There is a limited number of people allowed inside.
  • There is clear signage inside to help with social distancing.
  • Floor markings and wall signage has been installed to help with social distancing and to find your way around the building.
  • Protective screens have been installed in the reception areas.
  • There is a one way system in place on the main staircase (going up) and the fire escape staircase (going down).
  • Lifts are limited to one person only.
  • Toilets are available.
  • Toilets are limited to one person at a time with clear signage to indicate if they are vacant or in use.

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The building is located to the south of the city centre with close road links via the A8 from the west, or the A7 from the south.
    • There are single yellow lines in front of the building which may be used by Blue Badge holders.
      There is a designated Blue Badge bay on Victoria Street opposite, along with standard parking bays.
      There are no public car parks nearby.
  • By Bus View
    • There is a bus stop within 150 metres of the venue.
    • There are bus stop directly in front of the building. The majority of buses are operated by Lothian Buses.
      Up to the minute "real time" bus timetable information is now available at the majority of bus stops across the city.
      Information panels provided next to the majority of bus stops let you know when the next bus services will be arriving, or if there has been a delay.

  • By Train View
    • The nearest Railway Station is Edinburgh Waverley Station.
    • Edinburgh Waverley Station is approx. 0.3 miles to the north from the building.
      It should be noted that some of the walking routes may feature paths with steep gradients or steps given the landscape.
