Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, sunglasses, binoculars, magnifying glass, activity sheets, soft toy, communication cards, accessible maps and sensory maps.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Piggery Tea Room)
- Turn left out of the welcome hut and go down the track.
Go through an open gate and the tea room is on the right. - The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
- Path surfaces along the route are gravel and paving stones.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
Entrance
- The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the tea room.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single manual door (with a locked extension leaf) which opens away from you.
- The width of the opening is 120cm.
Eating and Drinking
- This is a tea room which serves sandwiches and snacks.
- There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
- Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
- Menu types include: written wall menus.
- Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
- The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, two handled cups, easy grip cutlery, a portable card machine for payment, large-handled mugs and large-handled cutlery.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There may be background noise here.
- There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
- The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
- There is a counter over 85cm high without a tray rail.
- The counter is 91cm high.

Toilet with Adaptations (Piggery Tea Room - Ambulant - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located to the left of the counter.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 17m from the entrance.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 73cm.
- The door has a twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 147cm x 228cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 85cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the right transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
- There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
- The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and wash basin.
- The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: soap dispenser and towel dispenser.
- The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm.
- The height of the toilet roll holder is 95cm.
- The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
- The height of the wash basin is 80cm.
- The height of the soap dispenser is 115cm.
- The height of the towel dispenser is 112cm.
- The height of the baby change is 90cm.
- There is a pull cord emergency alarm at a recommended height (within 10cm from the floor).
- There is not a shelf.
- The cubicle has: a waste bin without lid, a nappy/incontinence items bin and a sanitary bin.
- The cubicle does not have a full length mirror and coat hooks.
- The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: all grab rails, the floor, the toilet seat and the dropdown rail.

Standard Toilet (Piggery Tea Room)
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 76cm.
- Internally the door has a low colour contrast.
- The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
- The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 64cm.
- There is an ambulant cubicle available with a vertical grab rail on the right.
- The information above relates to the male toilet. There is a different configuration of rails in the female toilet.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There are no hand dryers.
- The female toilet has lever mixer taps.
The male toilets have sensor taps.
Exit
- The exit is located to the rear left of the building.
- There is not step-free access at the exit.
- There is a single manual door which opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 88cm.
- There are 2 steps beyond the exit, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
- Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm) .
Picnic Area
- The following information describes the picnic area located to the right and left after you exit the tea room.
- Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
- The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
- There are picnic tables.
- No chairs have armrests on both sides.
- Adapted picnic tables are available.
- The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 71cm.
- The following furniture is permanently fixed: all of the chairs and all of the tables.
- There is step-free level access around some of the area.
- The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to grass.
