Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and sunglasses.
  • You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception building. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: an off-road/all-terrain mobility scooter and a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Pleasure Grounds)

  • From the car park, follow the path to and through the Stables Courtyard and take the exit to the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located at the exit of the Stables Courtyard.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland and open countryside.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Hikes and Trails (Mile Walk)

  • The walk is approximately 1.2 miles.
  • The route is level throughout and takes visitors in a loop around the Pleasure Grounds.

  • None of the paths are lit at night.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • The route is not clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps, handheld maps and online maps.
  • Seating is available on the route.
  • There are standard and accessible toilet facilities along the route.
