Equipment and Resources to Borrow
- You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
- Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys and sunglasses.

- You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: an off-road/all-terrain mobility scooter and a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Shops)
- Entering from the Visitor Reception, follow the path into the Stables Courtyard. The entrances to the shops are on the left.
- The route to the area is step-free level.
- Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and gravel.
- The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
- There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.
Shop (Stables)
- There is step-free level access into the shop.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 100cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- All flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- There is step-free level access around the shop.
- There is background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 93cm.
- There is a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

Shop (Grooms' Bookshop)
- There is step-free level access into the shop.
- The door is manual, permanently held open and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the door opening is 90cm.
- The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
- Some flooring in the shop is smooth and even.
- Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
- There is step-free level access around some of the shop.
- Access around the shop is via steps.
- There may be background noise here.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
- There is step-free level access to the counter.
- The height of the counter is 92cm.
- There is not a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The checkout area has windows, TVs and glazed screens or mirrors which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read .
- The counter has a clearly signed hearing assistance system.

Stairs (Grooms' Bookshop)
- The floors which are accessible by stairs are G, 1.
- There are 16 steps between floors.
- The steps are not clearly marked with a handrail on the left going up.
- The highest step is 18cm high.
- Lighting levels are moderate to good.
Toilet with Adaptations (Grooms' Bookshop - Accessible - Right Hand Transfer)
- This toilet is located next to bookshop.
- There is step-free level access into the toilet.
- This toilet is approximately 2m from the bookshop.
- There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
- The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
- The width of the toilet door opening is 88cm.
- The door has a lever twist lock.
- The dimensions of the cubicle are 189cm x 190cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
- There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
- The lateral transfer space is 148cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
- There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
- The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
