Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a manual wheelchair. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: soft toy.
  • You can borrow these from the Visitor Reception for the manual wheelchair and the Manor House for the sensory pack. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: an off-road/all-terrain mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Manor Garden)

  • Turn right out the Visitor Reception in the Old Farmyard, towards the left of the Alexander Keiller Museum.
    This will lead to the Monks' Garden, after which you can continue onto all the other gardens.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel, muddy, cobbles and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Outdoor Spaces (Monks' Garden)

  • This information is for the access point located to the left of the path leading to Avebury Manor.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which opens away from you (push).
  • The gate is not self-closing.
  • The gate has a sliding bolt lock.
  • The width of the gap is 103cm.
  • The entrance gate will be locked if there are not enough staff to cover the entrance.
    In this case use the entrance to left of the front manor entrance.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: cobbled, block paving, gravel and bonded gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Outdoor Spaces (Kitchen Garden)

  • This information is for the access point located to the rear of Avebury Manor via the half moon garden path.
  • Access into the area is via a step.
  • There is 1 step, which are unmarked, with no handrails.
  • There is a gate at the surveyed access point which is permanently held open.
  • The width of the gap is 120cm.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: block paving and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
