  • The accessible visitor shuttle bus operates from the rear of the Visitor Reception Building.

Route to (Stable Yard Café)

  • From the Visitor Reception Building, walk up the driveway towards the entrance gates. The Stable Yard is on the right hand side, through open double gates.
    The café is on the left as you enter the Stable Yard.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and cobbles.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Entrance

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the café, in the Stable Yard.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 172cm.

Eating and Drinking

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold snacks.
  • There is a counter where only drinks can be ordered and a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: counter menus and written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups and a portable card machine for payment.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
  • There is a counter over 85cm high without a tray rail.
  • There is not a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • There is step-free level access around the seating area.
  • There are a mixture of chairs with and without armrests, bench seats, high stools, high tables, booths, armchairs and room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) available in the seating area.

Toilet with Adaptations (Stable Café - Ambulant - No Lateral Transfer)

  • This toilet is located on the left hand side of the main corridor of the café.

  • This toilet is approximately 20m from the café entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 84cm.
  • The door has a locking handle.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 168cm x 211cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is not a lateral transfer space next to the seat.
  • There is a push button flush on the wall above the toilet.
  • The following grab rails are available: a vertical grab rail on the left as you face the toilet, a horizontal grab rail on the right as you face the toilet, vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin and a horizontal grab rail on the door.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the left as you face the seat.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, soap dispenser and wash basin.
  • The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 47cm.

Exit

  • The exit is located at the centre right of the café.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the exit.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • There are double automatic doors which open by sliding.
  • The width of the opening is 98cm.

Picnic Area

  • The following information describes the picnic area located in the Stable Yard, to the right of the café.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There are picnic tables, bench seats and stools.
  • No chairs have armrests on both sides.
  • Adapted picnic tables are available.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the lowest picnic table is 72cm.
  • The distance between the floor and the underside of the highest picnic table is 74cm.
  • The standard height for the underside of picnic tables is 74cm.
  • The following furniture is permanently fixed: some of the chairs.

  • The surface in the picnic area is not smooth and even.
