Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a tramper. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

  • There are charges to borrow a tramper.
  • The tramper can be borrowed from Visitor Welcome and is run by Countryside Mobility.
    You can get a yearly membership for £10. Members can hire for free.
    There is an option for a two week taster membership for £2.50.

Route to (the Nursery Garden and Orchard Garden)

  • Exit the Visitor Welcome. Follow the paved path to the right. Follow the tarmac path to the left.
    Turn right at the open gateway. Follow the path around to the right and take the next right down a slope.
    The Great Barn will be on the left.
    Continue straight and go through a gate.
    Turn right and the entrance to the Nursery Garden will be on the left.
    For the Orchard Garden instead of turning right, go straight ahead and the entrance will be on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, gravel, cobbles and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.
  • The visitor shuttle will take you as far as the Great Barn.

Outdoor Spaces (Nursery Garden)

  • This information is for the access point located off of the estate walk tracks.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass.
  • There is no step-free level access around the area.
  • There are some bench seats in areas.

  • Access into the area is via a very steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
