Route to (Carding Mill Valley and Long Mynd - Parking and Tea Room)

  • From the car park, follow the public road up the slight slope and the Tea Room is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are concrete and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Public Transport

Parking

  • This site has a car park.
  • This is an open air car park with a concrete and gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
  • There are clearly presented payment signs.
  • Maps and information boards are available.
  • There are 6 Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The nearest Blue Badge bay is 40m from the Tea Room entrance.
  • Obstacles from the car park include: bollards with high colour contrast but no visual identification band.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.

Entrance (Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the Tea Room.
  • There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
  • The slight ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The ramp overcomes the step.
  • There is 1 step, which is clearly marked, with no handrails.
  • Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
  • There are double manual doors which open both ways.
  • The width of the opening is 128cm.

Eating and Drinking (Tea Room)

  • This is a tea room which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is full table service and a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws and takeaway cups.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.
  • There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.

  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 160cm x 184cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 112cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical grab rail on the transfer side.

  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors which open both ways.
  • The width of the opening is 138cm.

Eating and Drinking (Ice Cream Parlour)

  • This is a cafĂ© which serves desserts.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and table service (on request only).
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: written wall menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws and takeaway cups.
  • Lighting levels are low.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise here.

  • The door has a locking handle (with a RADAR key to access).
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 168cm x 219cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
  • The lateral transfer space is 110cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the right as you face the toilet and a vertical grab rail on the transfer side.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: soap dispenser, wash basin and toilet roll holder.
  • The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm.
