This toilet with adaptations for disabled people is approximately 8m from the Tea Room entrance.
The toilets with adaptations for disabled people can be found within the Tea Room, and also next to the Tea Room.
The standard toilets surveyed can be found within the Tea Room.

Admissions

At this location the following are free to access for all visitors: Everything on site is free apart from the parking.

Route to (Carding Mill Valley and Long Mynd - Parking and Tea Room)

From the car park, follow the public road up the slight slope and the Tea Room is on the left.
The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
Path surfaces along the route are concrete and gravel.
The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Public Transport

There is not a bus stop within approximately 150m of the site.
Carding Mill Junction Bus Stop is approximately 0.7 miles away from the site.
The nearest train station is Church Stretton.
Church Stretton Station is approximately 1.1 miles away from Carding Mill Valley.

Parking

This site has a car park.
This is an open air car park with a concrete and gravel surface.
Parking is free for National Trust members and Blue Badge holders, but charges apply for all other visitors.
There are clearly presented payment signs.
Maps and information boards are available.
There are 6 Blue Badge parking bays.
The nearest Blue Badge bay is 40m from the Tea Room entrance.
Obstacles from the car park include: bollards with high colour contrast but no visual identification band.
There are not parent and child parking bays available.
There is not a designated drop-off point.

Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Equipment cannot be borrowed or hired.
Powered mobility vehicles cannot be borrowed or hired.

Entrance (Tea Room and Ice Cream Parlour)

The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the Tea Room.
There is step-free access via ramp at the entrance.
The slight ramp is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
The ramp overcomes the step.
There is 1 step, which is clearly marked, with no handrails.
Some of the steps are not at the recommended height (between 15cm - 18cm).
There are double manual doors which open both ways.
The width of the opening is 128cm.

Eating and Drinking (Tea Room)

This is a tea room which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
There is full table service and a counter where food and drink can be ordered.
Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
Menu types include: written wall menus.
Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
The following are available here: drinking straws and takeaway cups.
Lighting levels are moderate to good.
There is no (or very little) background noise here.
There is a clearly signed hearing assistance system.
The hearing assistance system was tested and working at the time of the survey.
There is a counter under 85cm high with a tray rail.
The counter is 81cm high.
There is a section of the counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
There is step-free level access around the seating area.
There are tables and chairs without armrests available in the seating area.
The seating area does not have: a priority table and a mixture of chairs with and without armrests.
Tables are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
The surface height of the tables is 76cm.
All flooring in the area is smooth and even.

Toilet with Adaptations (Tea Room - Internal - Accessible - Right Hand Transfer)

This toilet is located within the Tea Room.
There is step-free level access into the toilet.
This toilet is approximately 10m from the Tea Room entrance.
There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
The width of the toilet door opening is 87cm.
The door has a twist lock.
The dimensions of the cubicle are 160cm x 184cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat but it is obstructed.
The lateral transfer space is 112cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
There is a lever flush on the transfer side.
The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side and a vertical grab rail on the transfer side.
There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder and wash basin.
The following fixtures cannot be reached from the toilet seat: soap dispenser.
The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 46cm.

Entrance (Ice Cream Parlour)

The entrance surveyed is located to the left from the tea room and ice cream parlour entrance.
There is step-free level access at the entrance.
There are double manual doors which open both ways.
The width of the opening is 138cm.

There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
The width of the toilet door opening is 88cm.
The door has a locking handle (with a RADAR key to access).
The dimensions of the cubicle are 168cm x 219cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
The lateral transfer space is 110cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
There is a spatula flush on the transfer side.
The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the right as you face the toilet and a vertical grab rail on the transfer side.
There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: soap dispenser, wash basin and toilet roll holder.
The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm.
The height of the toilet roll holder is 100cm.
The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.

There is a pull cord emergency alarm but it was tied up at the time of the survey.
There is a shelf located where it is reachable for seated and standing users.
