    About Chartwell - National Trust

    Accessibility Overview

Chartwell sits within the Kent countryside and features a Visitor Centre, shops, café, House, art studio exhibit, gardens, and estate with play areas and hike/trail routes.

There is car parking on the estate, with designated bays for Blue Badge holders.

The estate offers toilet facilities with adaptations for disabled people, which can be found near to the Visitor Centre, in the Landemare Café, and near to the House Croquet Lawn.

The Visitor Centre and second-hand bookshop have step-free level access into and throughout. Other points of interest are accessed via ramps/slopes or steps.

Routes around the property have ramps/slopes, so there is a part-time accessible shuttle which can take visitors to and from the house. A manual wheelchair can also be borrowed from the Visitor Centre, and sensory packs, including anxiety control items and easy read and Braille materials are available. The National Trust recommends booking these items in advance.

Please view our Detailed Access Guides below to find out further details, including measurements and photographs.
