Equipment and Resources to Borrow

Route to (the Parkland and Gardens)

  • Exit the Visitor Reception and pass the Gift Shop on the right.
    Turn left at the end and follow the path till it opens out to the parkland.
  • The route to the area is step-free level.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located beyond the Visitor Reception and the shop.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: a playground with play equipment, parkland, woodland, gardens and open countryside.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor spaces.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

Hikes and Trails

  • The walk is approximately 1 mile.
  • The walk goes from Visitor Reception to Croom Court and back; passing through wooded areas and parkland.
  • The hike is not open 24 hours.
  • None of the paths are lit at night.

  • Some of the route contains steep gradients.
  • These are found in the following areas: the part of the trail shortly after passing the church.

Toilet with Adaptations (Composting Facility - Not Accessible/Ambulant - No Transfer Space)

  • This toilet is located in woodland off the main walking path near the Temple Greenhouse.
  • Access into the toilet is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide, with a handrail on the right going up.
  • There is no signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens by sliding and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 76cm.
  • The door has a hook lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 142cm x 154cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is not a lateral transfer space next to the seat.
  • There is no flush.
  • There is no dropdown rail.
  • The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 56cm.
  • There is no emergency alarm.
  • There is not a shelf.
  • The cubicle does not have a mirror, disposal facilities and coat hooks.
  • The following have a less clear colour contrast with their surroundings: the internal door, the toilet seat and the floor.
  • Lighting levels are low.
  • There was a plastic box (68cm to the top from the floor) containing toilet rolls next to the seat at the time of survey (October 2023).
    Sawdust from the red bin is to be poured into the toilet after each use. The sawdust bin used at the time of survey (October 2023) was at a height of 50cm.

Standard Toilet (Composting Facility)

  • Access into the toilet is via steps.
  • There are 3 steps, which are unmarked, with a handrail on the right going up.
  • The door is manual, opens inwards and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 69cm.
  • The shared standard toilet was surveyed.
  • Lighting levels are low.
  • There are no hand dryers.
  • Sawdust from the black bin is to be poured into the toilet after each use.
